24p test: Sony HDR-CX900 camcorder

Показать описание
Testing the 24p mode (23.976fps) of Sony's HDR-CX900 camcorder (UK model, CX900E).

A brief selection of shots, largely in autofocus / autoexposure to see what 24p mode is like, also the depth of field for that "filmic look".

Shot at 50Mbps XAVC-S and rendered to the same format for best quality though YouTube compression will undoubtedly have degraded the image.

To all intents and purposes, these tests should also be applicable to Sony's FDR-AX100 4K camcorder too as it's identical to the CX900 apart from also being able to shoot in 4K!

I never got used to that 'staccato' effect. Still using my Sony FX1, 3 ccds. Still wondering if I'm going to trade in ... Thanks for your video.

You have no idea how your videos on CX 900 have helped me. THANK YOU!!!!
I bought one last week but have not used it yet. Trying to find a video that explains what best settings would be. Do you know how to have the screen stay on longer with info? seems like its only like 2 seconds and info on screen goes away....thanks again for all your hard work!   sure helps us out!!     :)

HIYA! Can you still recommend picking this camera up even though it has a couple of years on the neck? It's 850 Euro approx in Sweden right now, is it still holding up this camera?

I want almost everything to look like a movie at 24p.

Sports would be an exception to that, but that's about the only thing I can think of. I don't like the cadence of 30p or 60p video. 60p is fine...at 40% speed. 30p is fine, at 80% speed.
