Sony CX900 vs Sony AX100 4K Video Version

This is a side-by-side test of the Sony CX900 (HD) camcorder and the Sony AX100 (4K) camcorder. I used split screen to compare HD footage from each camera, and also HD vs 4K in both the 60mbs and 100mbs data rate. This was rendered in 4K and uploaded in 4K. I was mainly interested to see if there was any difference in the HD output (in terms of clarity, resolution) between the two cameras. I will also be posting a split screen compairison where footage from both cameras were edited in 2K (HD) natively--in other words, the 4K footage was down-rezzed to 2K for editing, and output then in 2K.

Looking at the video I see the CX900 has more contrast than the AX100 on the right. Anyone see that? I own the CX900 also.

I thought I had answered....yes, the hdmi output is a "clean" (no viewfinder overlay) video signal at the same resolution you are filming at. Apparently my earlier answer didn't post correctly.

hello David Ice! thanks for the video. I record music groups wich play ancient music. They normally play in ambiences with a low light (old churches mostly) wich model would you recommend me? I'm not sure about the response of each machine under these circumstances. Thanks in advance

If you are shooting HD only, there really isn't a difference. If you shoot 4K and then downright to HD, there definitely IS a difference in sharpness and detail. But you have to be able to handle 4K in your editing system.

Filming 4K at 25p, 24p is not enough for preserve smooth pan and zoom. 4K @25p or 24p is useless for moving subjects.

Bitrate is not relevant in static images quality.
