Which Bible serves the glory of God best…. a KJV that collects dust because someone struggles to understand it, or a ESV/NKJV/CSB that someone can read & God reveal Himself to them in all His Glory?

Before I moved out on my own to a studio, I was blinded by my sins. Being addicted to pornography was one of them. I always believed in Jesus, but I dont think I was truly born again until about 2 years ago. When I moved out on my own, I found a Bible that I had packed. (My family owned many Bibles, but I never really read the Bible growing up). It was a New Living Translation Bible. I began reading and God really spoke to my heart. He convicted me of my sins and taught me how to have a personal relationship with Him. I developed a more prayerful life and a new desire to read His word. I now have a new desire to follow Jesus and surrender everything to Him. Though I slip into sin, the Holy Spirit guides me to ask for forgiveness and to put my eyes back on Jesus. I believe God used the time I spent alone living in my studio to get to really know Him through His word, and the Bible I read was the New Living Translation....I believe God speaks to people in different ways and not just through only one translation.

I used to be KJVo, I still love my KJV, but a dear pastor helped me by this statement, "we serve King Jesus not King James."

Good video. Don’t worry. I won’t beat you up. I like the KJV but I primarily use the LSB. The LSB is probably going to be the last translation I will buy because I own a good selection of conservative translations. We would do well to support ministries that are trying to get the Bible out to non-English speaking countries that need a Bible. A few years ago the church I go to had one of our missionaries on a Sunday night. He pastors a church in Italy. I asked him how Italian translations are available in Italian. He stated four. We have way more English translations than we need, some good, some not good. We should really put a greater effort to get Bibles out to people who don’t have one, meaning non-English. Thank you for this video.

One more thing. (I keep adding to my comments.). When my wife and I lived in Alaska, we were told to try a church not far from us. I made the decision not to go there because the church’s website advertised KJV 1611; I doubt it actually used the 1611 version because it’s so unreadable today. The same church said the KJV was God’s choice for the English speaking world. That’s false advertising.

Great. Love the ESV. I have used Kjv for past 50 years. No use arguing with these people. True all you said.

I grew up in a KJVo church and nearly left the faith due to how they treated me when I asked questions. I was constantly shamed and struggled with doubt for years and even now I still struggle though I truly love God and want to serve Him to the best I am able. I thank God for His helping me to never fully lose faith in Him as I was struggling to free myself from my old KJV only church.

I really appreciate your gracious nature in this and other issues brother. KJVO, or holding onto the KJV for as long as we have, has harmed the TR position historically. I use the NKJV and the Greek text I use is the Textus Receptus. I love the KJV and I gladly preach from it, but there is a need for an update of the language.

Also if you point KJVO people to the preface of the 1611 they’ll become like crickets. The reason being the translators of the 1611 said in the preface if any more reliable or older manuscripts come along in the future that the English translation should be improved upon. Love it!

About 6 to 7 months ago I decided to make some changes in my life to better myself. Getting closer to God was one of them. So I bought a KJV Bible to read. I really wanted to understand it so bad. But because of the old, and outdated language used in it I had a hard time understanding it. It has words in it that are no longer a part of the English language, and words that the meaning of them have changed over the centuries which make it hard to understand. I'm not against the KJV. If you can understand it great, read it. But after 3 weeks to a month of struggling with the KJV, I purchased a 95 reference NASB Bible. I can understand it better. I just want to read the Bible to understand about God's past. Not to go through the Bible word for word and scrutinize words or phrases that you disagree with. That is a bit too much in my book. I have learned alot from my 95 NASB Bible, and it suites my needs very well

I was born and raised in a KJVO church. Started reading from the NASB when I was 24 and it was life changing. I now enjoy about 7 different main translations- there’s something that I love and appreciate about all of them.

Well said I'm a new King James or King James guy myself and prefer the TR but as Christians we should do all things with the spirit of Christ and I've noticed the same thing about many King James onlyist.

I've had many conversations about the Bible with all different types of people (atheists, Jehovah's Witnesses, Mormons, Catholics, KJVO people, etc.). The two most closed minded, rude, and emotionally charged people I've talked with are atheists and KJVO people, hands down. Something isn't right with the KJVO crowd when they claim to know the Lord, but yet are as nasty as atheists.

I am just happy with anyone picking up A Bible for the first time. Loved your response to these people. Wasn't even aware that this was a controversy

so many good translations we should be thankful for the gifts of them

Thank you so much for presenting a great balance of translations and a taking an intellectual approach to why KJVO is truly an unbalanced and flawed argument. I read KJV, ESV and NASB and benefit from all of them.

Interestingly, at Pentecost, the Holy Spirit did not change the ears of the crowd so they could understand the apostles speaking in their native language. Instead he gave the gift of tongues to the believers, so the crowd could hear, and understand the gospel in their own language. “And many were added to their number that day.”

When I’m working through my own translations of the Greek and I compare them to the KJV, I find the the KJV to be marvellously accurate and incredibly beautiful.

Grew up in KJVO church/family. Spent 10 years wandering through many translations that are great. However, returned to KJV because it's the one I have in my memory. For sure, not KJVO. At all.
