Dr Dre Lost $50 Million from a Facebook Video

Dr Dre lost 50 million dollars because of a facebook video. A new book has given insight into the Beats by Dre sale to apple. Back in 2014 Tyrese Gibson posted a video with Dr Dre celebrating the sale which had not been publicly announced. In fact business partner Jimmy Iovine had specifically said that the deal was done and the only thing that could make the deal fall through was to publicly talk about it. The video was posted 3 days prior to the official announcement and based on the book Tim Cook went ahead with the acquisition but cut off 200 million dollars from the total price, which with a quarter going to Dr Dre and Jimmy Iovine each that cost them both 50 million dollars. The 3.2 billion dollar sale means they still both got 750 million dollars each but no doubt that’s one expensive facebook video.
