I recently was thinking about this and just wrote down all the "parties" - stakeholders, customer centre staff, UX, data engineers/analysis, development team, business analysts, product specialists and so on, and just thought about that the PO work with them. Either by having meetings, gathering intel, collecting feedback, managing requests etc. While also being a support for the developers if needed.

Unrelated Question:
If a Scrum Team has some "internal" work to do (team tool, item from the retrospective, etc.) where should they store these tasks? The sprint backlog is a subset of the product backlog, but should these kinds of stuff be in the product backlog while these might not even relate to the product? Or just have them at the sprint backlog all the time even tho we might not work on these items next sprint?
// It is a huge product with a lot of teams and hundreds of PBIs.
I've had a disagreement (again) with an agile coach about this issue, and he almost convinced me otherwise. Can you help?

I'm just under 3 months on a new team as a Scrum Master. How does one deal with a Lead Developer AND Product Owner person who is a gatekeeper? I don't think they're aware of their actions. He trusts me, and has either gone with my word or pushed back on me misunderstanding the work appropriately. But I've never been put in a situation where I'm the key person to solve such a social problem.
