I love how you pointed out that the more people use cars to get around, the slower we get around. the more people use public transport, the faster we get around.

I love how the solution to most urban development problems can be summarised by: "Just build a f*cking train"

The sentence "cars are the worst form of transportation ever" literally just got interrupted by a car crashing on the street outside my house

I love that there's basically a huge shift in several data sets because of Covid that we have to watch for

Yes Adam. Join us on the public transit bandwagon. We need more people demanding it. I'll even throw in my own argument that no one seems to make: public transportation gives you more time to yourself. If you're behind the wheel, you've got to be keeping your eyes on the road and free from distractions so that no one ends up killing you. If you're on a bus or a train, you've got options. You can socialize with your fellow riders if they are so inclined, you can read a book or play a video game, or you can even catch up on some more productive work. Honestly it's just a more relaxing experience overall. Much better than spending an hour or more a day doing nothing fun.

The good old "just one more lane"

This is what I've been telling people over the years, but they just think I'm grouchy.

this makes me cry because I live in SUCH a car centric city. The most I can reasonably get to by walking is a nearby grocery store and like...3 restaurants

You are gonna kill it on YouTube shorts and TikTok. Your energy perfect. Your takes perfect. Your hair perfect.
Thank you for handing out the train and public transportation pill.

one of my favorite Futurama jokes "no one drives in NYC, there is always too much traffic"

Hell yes, Adam. Let's also talk about the cost of fuel, parking (both to the parker and the land it takes to accommodate parking lots), vehicle maintenance, etc. I'd kill for a decent public transportation system in the Kansas City metro where I live.

The fact that we gave almost EVERY person a 1-2 ton brick on wheels is terrifying.

It absolutely kills me how often I’m tempted to get my license despite happily taking the buses for most of my life and feeling no urge to drive for myself because fewer and fewer people are taking the buses, so service keeps getting cut, and my local service is constantly struggling to hire enough drivers, making it harder and harder to get around.

I'm really happy to see the "car bad" movement picking up pace among the younger generations. I'm sloooowly changing my parents' minds too :)

I live in Chicago- and I used to have to take one of the most congested highways to and from Skokie every day for work. During Covid when the roads were empty it was like a 20 minute drive. Once people started returning the trip home became an hour+ and a day did not go by where someone was treating the shoulder like a lane, I witnessed a close call or an accident itself, and tons of aggressive crazy shit. One of the big factors in me taking my new job was the fact I get to take the L. It’s got it’s downsides of course, but it’s a thousand times better than traffic.

I'm an automobile enthusiast, and I fully agree that we need to make cars a choice rather than a necessity like we have. I'd support a bill to fund public transportation.

Absolutely agree. I lived in a foreign country that had massively invested in public transport, buses, trains (cross country, inter and intra city and subways), bicycle lanes and paths all over, not to mention for bridges and walking paths and it was so easy to get around and with half the population using public transport the roads were much faster than here even though the cities were more densely populated.
