Does EA even test their games anymore? It's wild to me that they keep releasing broken games and then they basically tell the players to do the quality testing for them for free 🤦

Ive never been so happy I snatched up the Sims 2 Ultimate collection when they were giving it away for free. $30 for a non remastered version of the game is ridiculous.

I grew up with Sims 3 and that will always be my baby. However, I've always wanted to play Sims 2 (and even tried it through downloading its abandonware links many years ago). It was super glitchy and I'd love to try it again. But, I refuse to buy something so expensive for a twenty year old game when it runs even worse than the abandonware!

The first time I opened The Sims 2 Legacy, it did crash. But, since then, I've had no problems. I'm just looking for great lots and Sims to download, so far it's been rough, but I did get a program to unpack files, and have been reading and watching to try to remember how to do stuff. So far, so good. It's hard to find time to play both the Sims 2 and 4, and I have so much going in the Sims 4, that I haven't played Sims 2 that much yet. But, it was my favorite for years, so I do plan to keep playing it.

I think it's mostly NVIDIA users that are having launch issues with Sims 1. I found a fix that worked and the game ran very well with only one glitch from what I can remember. The fix doesn't even require downloading anything. Just go into your NVIDIA Control Panel and manually set the game to run on integrated graphics under the 3D Settings.
I also have nearly zero issues with Sims 2, but my sister did and find out that if she turned off one drive syncing, it got rid of most of the issues she was having with the game. Hope that helps for anyone who has already bought the game.

Basically, the whole thing is just a cash grab to sell ancient software with no updates at full price. It’s insane and I can’t believe anybody’s actually paying for these things. I’m certainly not. I’m glad some people got these back when they were being given out but it’s crazy that EA is even charging for this stuff. It was abandoned ware and now they’ve suddenly decided. Oh wait we can make money on it and we don’t even have to do anything. Seriously, no one should be should be surprised that there are major issues with ancient software being released by EA.

Yeah I have an issue I'm experiencing. The game is being listed as £24.99, when I think it should say like £10.99 at most... crazy stuff... I mean they gave us this game for FREE a few years ago... The game, if they're going to INSIST on charging, should be FAR less expensive

I don't know how anyone is surprised about this. I 100% knew this was going to happen. There have been many re-releases of old games with bugs from Silent Hill Collection to Rome Total War.

As someone who bought and paid for TS2 and all of its expansions, etc, I'm not really impressed that I would have to buy it again to receive any updates because it was "abandonware" until they saw an opportunity for a cash grab for the 25th birthday & the nostalgia of it all. Not to mention that, in spite of my installation of TS2 requiring a lot of extra jumping through hoops to get it running correctly, my install is still LESS broken than their re-release.

Honestly, they should have just done a deal with GOG to have them handle the rerelease for both games, like they've done with some of the older SimCity titles. Like, they have the money to outsource the work of making these games compatible with modern hardware and should have seriously considered it
