Speciality Coffee in a Capsule?

Is it possible to get a good quality speciality coffee from a compostable, sustainable coffee pod? We have tried a range of coffees sent to us by Coffee Roots and find out.

FYI original pods were not patented, Nespresso lost a court case on the issue and hence the market for 3rd party pods expanded. Therefore I assume a lesson was learned and the vertuo machine pods will not be replicated for a while if ever (given innovation will likely move to alternatives before the patent expiration).
