I´m working almost over 25 years in warehouses and this "special ramp" is almost everywhere standard in all german warehouses.

The dock leveler is an old idea. I was installing them 35 years ago there were 2 basic styles, the hydraulic system as shown, and the counter balanced. The counter balanced was by far the most popular and reliable once setup it lasted years and required only a light pull to lift .

(7:34) Hydraulic "dock levers" are far from being new technology; Jones and Laughlin Steel in Indianapolis Indiana had the hydraulic levelers on their shipping docks when I was hired by the company in the early 1970's, and I don't know how long they may have been in use before that.

The dock leveller in this demonstration plainly shows a safety fault and as it is newly fitted and not had the usual abuse this surprises me somewhat! The toe guards are not opening correctly and left unrepaired could result in someone losing their toes😲

I was an over-the-road driver from 1991-2018 and saw the hydraulic dock in a lot of warehouses. I can't recall when, where I first saw one since it was over two decades ago. The contraption afterwards I also seen.
