Prosecutor files to drop Donald Trump’s January 6 charges

A United States prosecutor has asked a judge to dismiss the subversion case against US President-elect Donald Trump related to his efforts to overturn his 2020 election defeat.

Prosecutor Jack Smith, known for his strong stance against Mr Trump, has requested the case be dismissed.

This comes as the President-elect faces serious legal challenges.
