I "buy" trees from the Arbor Day Foundation. They're suited to my climate, and I've had pretty good luck with them. $10 for 6-10 trees makes it totally worth it. They are still less than three feet tall at the beginning of their 3rd year (they come twig sized) but I've got time, and didn't spend much money! And I'm supporting a good cause.

I've got a dozen trees I started by seed. They're tiny but I love them.

Here in Utah we have a natural botanical garden (Red Butte) and every year in spring they divide and sell native plants. It's great because if you tour the gardens you can see how beautiful all the native plants look together. So just a suggestion if you're having a hard time finding native plants to check other community resources.

Oakland County Conservation District has an annual sale where you can get yearling trees and shrubs for $5–$25. I don’t know if other Michigan counties do the same.

Hello! I have a question, what is your opinion about Viola Sororia(common blue violet) I have it in my yard/grass. Is it ok to plant them in flower beds?

Great content! Ahh the “Legumes” have challenged me 😓✌️Amorpha canescens, leadplant, I had near 100% germination about 50 baby plants with 4-5 leaves on each, however one by one I lost them after transplanting. Same with dalea purpurea and zero germination of dalea villas. Your plants look amazing, do you use a inoculum for genus specific strains?
