What a beautiful, brilliant sermon! This is what Catholics are thirsting to hear. When this Gospel was read in our parish, the priest shallowly interpreted the actions of Our Lord and Our Lady, even suggesting that 'miracle' was too strong a word to apply here and that true miracles occur when we are kind to others in our community. The obsession with community-minded activities, and the obliteration of the sacred and the miraculous and the Divine, that we observe in some leaders of the Church, is soul crushing. I'm so grateful to have heard this intelligent and insightful analysis!!

Amen, to this priest. Our families were all brought up Catholic, for many generations. But now our nieces and nephews are not staying with the Catholic faith. Well about half of them. So sad.

Reading the Treatise on the Passions, I can see where you come from when it comes to love and sorrow. Both are pulling so hard in either direction at the time that you wonder if it will at that moment break and kill you. If there is sorrow, this means that joy and grace are not far behind.

Falling out of Love is not possible. True Love is unconditional. Most similar to how we feel about our children. We Love them because they are ours, not because of what they do right or wrong. When we marry, our spouse becomes ours. Love only becomes perfected when it is not returned by the beloved. It's easy to Love someone who returns the love. Love is perfected when you know that it is unlikely to return. Similar to how giving is at its finest when you know that the gift can't be returned. God, make us courageous in Loving how you Love us.
