If Judy says it's blood I believe her

Seeing Puss actually bleeding caught me off guard. Seeing it in theaters added way more effect with a crowd’s reaction. When the drip ran down Puss’s head, a handful of people gasped because everyone assumed it would be a fake-out. But seeing him wipe his head with his paw revealing it to actually be blood caused the crowd to erupt with gasps and whispers.

When I saw the blood run down puss's head on the first watch, I thought it was some jam gag, I actually like this version of it being more serious.👍

I liked how the movie was more mature while still being a kids movie at heart.

They really said, "No, the kids can handle it don't cut away or make a joke, make the cat bleed" and it was definitely the right decision because it's such a massively impactful moment and The Wolf wouldn't be nearly as terrifying without it.

Seeing how many people thought the blood was a gag makes me feel like I was doing the right thing by taking Puss in Boots: The Last Wish seriously from the start

I swear when I was in the theater you can experience the same fear and uneasiness Puss was feeling. I genuinely was afraid.

I was a bit shocked, I legitimately didn’t expect to see that when I watched this film. _Puss in Boots: The Last Wish_ is fantastic.

I genuinely didn't think dreamworks had the balls to show blood in a kids movie, puss in boots last wish is epic

Who else did not panic until 10 seconds later cause they thought it was a gag?

disney: it’s fake blood, so there is as much as possible
dreamworks: a drop of real blood in a good action scene, this will do

Last Wish really feels like a return to form for Dreamworks. It falls so well in line with the kinds of movies they were putting out funnily enough before Shrek came out. It's lighthearted and funny while treating it's heavier moments with the weight and seriousness needed. I really hope the success of this movie signals to at least DW if not other animation studios that they can play around and be more daring again (i mean they always 'could' be but status quo makes money is the logic they run with now) and remembering that not only can kids handle a lot more than we often give them credit for, but how movies/shows like this can actually HELP kids handle these situations.

I feel like dreamworks really has a solid understanding of the fact that children can 100% understand heavier moments and fully embraces that while still remaining "child friendly". it makes it so both children and adults can both equally as much enjoy the movie.

Easily my favourite thing about this scene, which I feel like alot of people forget, is how earlier in the film Puss states how a blade has never once touched him. The fact a blade has never ever touched him despite all the adventures and battles he's had throughout his nine lives is something that Puss takes alot of pride in and perfectly defines his "fearless hero" character. So knowing that information, it actually makes this blood scene 10× more amazing and scary than it already is. Plus the fact that Death is the very first person to ever touch Puss with a blade and on top of that he touches him enough to draw blood, instantly shows how much a threat Death is to Puss. Absolutely fantastic movie. DreamWorks has shown that they're clearly still capable of making well written and deep stories when they want to.
Edit: thanks so much for the likes!!

I love how Puss in Boots managed to give a dark theme while being sorta kid friendly at the same time.

Every time I heard deaths whistle it genuinely invoked fear in me, my heart started racing and somehow I felt like I was in the same situation as Puss. This villain and this movie is absolutely incredible.

This movie handled fight scenes even better than most MCU Films… no stupid jokes during the scenes
