Growing Media Inorganic Components
Perlite- Will float in water so some may rise to the surface of a container
Vermiculite- Can hold more water than perlite and is more commonly seen in propagation mixes
Pumice- Very porous and will actually float in water even though it is a rock
Sand- exact composition varies, but it is made of rock and minerals that are finer than gravel but coarser than silt.
Wetting agents- lower the surface tension of a liquid to allow it to spread out creating a water film
