Tonight we will be making the through Mortise and tenon joint. this is older than most joinery out there as it is one of the most simple and versatile woodworking joints. tonight we want to do the basic form and in future weeks we will expand it and show how this one joint can be used in so many different locations.

New time works for me. I save my power tool time for knifemaking activities. Thanks James.

In this video, you made the mortise in the direction with the grain. Two questions:
- Does it make any problem with wood expansion and contraction?
- What should we do differently, if we make the mortise across the grain (e.g. a cupboard shelf)?

(Answer for the strap: 3 minutes, with your beard trimmer :)

I've got snacks and I'm excited to relax tonight watching this.

A brilliant video, thank you. I’m going to try to get to Brum for when you come over, or at least there for one of the days.

What did Roy say was the "secret" to good woodworking? the sawing noise was louder than your voice. This is my first "live" version of yours. Very well done given the head colds.

"My wife is live" ... well sorta. Hope Sarah feels Red Oak (in my admittedly limited experience) has a strangely vinegar sort of smell. It fit first try! I suppose that statistically that has to happen every once in a while. Great demo!!

If I were to do this with really soft pine, is there any technique to cut it, instead of crushing? I bought a new cheap chisel just to try putting a 20 or 25 degree bevel on it.

Been watching the channel for a little over 2 weeks now. Love the presentation and how it feels like hanging out at a friends shop while watching. Thanks for the tips and keep up the awesome work!!
Do you by chance have an online shop? Would love to get myself something from Wood by Wright sometime.

Would you mind sharing with me what equipment and services you use for your live streaming. Also, I see you using a remote to switch views - equipment. Yea, I know, I could search for videos on the topic but there would be many answers - my interest is what works for you.

Happy birthday! Glad you feel better.

What cameras do you use? Looking to get a new one and shopping around.
Love the videos!

180 minutes using a power tool!

Reasoning this out, since you said how many minutes "yesterday" not during the video, and since you already said you are putting up hickory trim on the house, AND since that means non-continual uses of say, a compound miter saw, I'd say two hours of tool time.

Enjoying the videos but and it's only my opinion, the camera view in the top right corner I find distracting and doesn't serve much of a purpose. The bottom right is fine 😁
