This is very interesting! Apple is becoming very hard to figure out. Hopefully they do release that feature but maybe hold off until iOS 15 is released. I also would like to see an iOS recovery feature without having to plug your phone into a computer to connect to the iTunes Store.

Useful video iDeviceHelp! This ios 14.8 is very important. Any update that has a . with a number on both sides is a must update software. Reason, for security matters. Every time an update has released to the public, I've always updated. Mainly for security, but features as well. I know features can be great, but users must keep their devices safe, unless they don't mind being spied on, have their device not work properly or not at all.

If this is true and apple is separating the security updates from the os, then this is something that is long LONG over due and very welcome. Sadly android has had this for a very long time and Apple is only now adding this much needed feature/option to iOS.
Just imagine how many older iOS devices will stay out of the landfill because of this. Yes I know just because the device isn’t getting updates doesn’t mean you throw it away, but it doesn’t mean people don’t do it, and they do. So many people actually believe these snake in the grass sales people and will ditch their devices as soon
as the updates are no longer released for them. Now the iPhone 6s/+ and up will remain usable and secure as long as the devices are working.
It’s funny how apple makes you want to hate them and yet respect them at the same time.
