When he was a young boy, William Wallace's father and brother, along with many others, lost their lives trying to free Scotland. Once he loses another of his loved ones, William Wallace begins his long quest to make Scotland free once and for all, along with the assistance of Robert the Bruce.

Braveheart is the partly historical, partly mythological, story of William Wallace, a Scottish common man who fights for his country's freedom from English rule around the end of the 13th century.

In 14th Century Scotland, William Wallace leads his people in a rebellion against the tyranny of the English King, who has given English nobility the 'Prima Nocta'.. a right to take all new brides for the first night. The Scots are none too pleased with the brutal English invaders, but they lack leadership to fight back. Wallace creates a legend of himself, with his courageous defence of his people and attacks on the English.

If your looking at this and are thinking of watching it mark my words it is one of the best films ive ever seen period.

20 years later, these movies can't even come close to as epic, emotional and engaging this entire film was. Definitely a masterpiece after watching it 2 decades later. I still remember this trailer being shown during previews at the theater. 
*Personally, I think with all these re-releases for other movies, this year it would be incredible to re-release 2 classics, Braveheart, and Heat. 
Both hit their 20th Anniversary this year and are entirely different, yet both epic sagas, with top notch acting, sharp directing, all practical effects/no CGI, amazing scenery (1 Scotland's beautiful landscapes, the other a bright metropolis that looks so sleek in the backdrop). 
BUT...they never would, unless it's at an arthouse.

Best film ever made! Bar none! Has the action for the guys, the romance for the girls and obviously both for whoever cares to go against stereotypes :) soundtrack is also magical! RIP James Horner x

I just saw this movie again again.... It always catches me off guard because of how unbelievably fuckin awsome it is. movies from the 90's dont usually age well but this one is exactly the same: pure screengold in every possible way imaginable. If you havent seen Braveheart, you dont know what movie are. Enjoy

I first watched this when I was 8 and I never quite forgot it. I guess the idea of War and having to fight to death helped it stick. I didn't really understand the whole concept of invading other countries so maybe that was it too ... Now I want to watch the whole movie and this time understand it.
