The point in all seasons of Bridgerton is that the "Gentlemen" do not follow the rules of decorum with their true love interests. Simon conspires secretly with Daphne, kisses her in the garden, talks to her about self-pleasure. Anthony kiss to Kate even though he was supposed to marry her sister. Precisely, the love stories in Bridgerton demonstrate that when it comes to true love, boundaries are crossed because unlike a "proper society love, " what the Bridgertons end up finding is true love, knowing all the good and accepting the flaws of the person they will spend the rest of their lives with because NO ONE is perfect. And after overcoming obstacles, the Bridgertons become humble and heal their own traumas, while with love, they heal their partners' traumas: Simon overcomes his father's trauma, Kate overcomes her trauma of losing her parents and believing that all happiness should be for her little sister, and Colin is helping Pen to be more confident in society, to find her self-esteem, while Pen helps him understand what true love is and his purpose in life. That's where the drama and romance lie. The third parties added to the plot cannot be said to be good or bad because their personalities are not explored in depth. Whereas the main characters we do know, and we already know that love ends up giving them their arc of redemption and change, like Daphne who stopped being so innocent and pressured by society's expectations, and Anthony is now a completely changed man compared to the libertine and rough one he was in the early seasons.

I will say I am furious at Colin for what he said s2. Even if he didn't mean it in a mean way, he should have put more care into his words. He made her sound like a joke in front of a bunch of eligible men.

That being said, they gave Anthony a great redemption in his season. I know they can do it for Colin, too. I think Debling will be what pushes him to realize that he's loved her all along and that he can't fathom losing her.
