My sister recently left Emirates after working for them for 5 years. She’s writing a book with plenty of resources despite her NDA. She’s moved from Dubai as she fears repercussions. In the book, she details unreported suicides, silenced deadly accidents and bribery. Her book will be called: “I felt it before I heard it” (I’m sure many Emirates CC will know what this means).

Interestingly. Emirates crew can now use their phone in uniform in the airport while sitting down.
Also when on rest seats they can also read magazines and books and watch a movie. A few things have changed for the better.

Bruh, I know someone who works on an Emirates Cabin crew. The enforcement of these really strict rules falls on the supervisors. Super chill supervisors generally don't care if you read or are on your phone. Each crew just kind of has their own system to make sure that they're alert to calls when they come in and that the work gets divided up properly. The reason for this is the supervisors like to use their phones too, lol.

I work for a Major Airline in Europe and in the moment we Check In for work we are not allowed to use our phones! They need to be off and this is good like this so you stay focused on your Job we are there for safety and not to check our instagram during work!

Thanks for this video. Every job has its downside but the biggest horror is people not being aware of it and going for it expecting only the benefits. If you can handle these downsides and if you're confident what I believe is you can make it. If this is what you love you must go for it but never expect for all glamour.
Please do a video about How working as Emirates cabin crew changed your life. What you've learnt. What you really appreciate about this job. Have a nice week ahead.

I’m not an Emirates cabin crew, but this video looks like it took a lot of work making! Liked and subscribed.

I really appreciate you being so honest and real. So great to see the reality of a “dream job”. I haven’t seen anything like this done via ex emirates crew! Thanks for preparing us mentally about the not so glamorous side of flight attending.

Thank you very much Orlando for sharing this and being so honest with it, I personally had another reflection now about this Airline which I learnt today beyond the luxury life that I see through socail media of emmirates cabin crew.

1 and 2 are to be expected, I mean, you're there to work...the rest are totally true, specially the passengers and profiles we find onboard. The attrition on all the middle eastern airlines is huge. So far, I'm ok at my airline, but I'm only 6 months flying, we'll see later in life how it goes.

loved the video, keep it up!

I was a Purser for British Airways & also had to manage strict uniform standards . Phones / I pads used to be a no no but laterally became integral to customer service & communications between many company departments. A rewarding career in general & certainly like no other, both in its structure & it’s demanding environment.

You forgot to mention one more misery regarding the annoying behavior of some passengers that the cabin crew has to deal with. Especially Dubai to south east asian destinations. This happens immediately after the aircraft touches the ground but still moving towards the gates (taxiing). Some passengers standing up and trying to open the overhead bins as if the journey is completed and the cabin crew yelling sit down and put on your seat belts.

I actually am so amazed at how these FA's work in a place. I am fascinated by how glamorous they look when I see them at airports. I too had some Emirates ground crew friends at the airport and on one occasion an Emirates staff at the airport got reprimanded for sitting down, , because she had to drink her water. It was really mean. And she was just there on overtime duty to cover someone's absence. I mean in Leadership training when you reprimand someone, you don't reprimand in front of other people to see, you call your staff, to somewhere more private and reprimand her. That's how good leaders should be.

I think powertripping happens in a lot of companies though not just emirates. Difficult customers they're everywhere too.

Same in any industry staff lord it over the minions . I hate it! Half the time they do less work, have no idea of what’s really going on and the true struggles of day to day work, and on top of that they are paid more!!!

I wonder if there is similar situation at Etiad. I flew with them several years ago and the uniform perfection of the crew's makeup, hair, uniforms, and manners was amazing but a little creepy. I had a very nice flight to Pakistan but quietly wondered about how the crew was treated.

I hate people who are disrespectful and always feel compelled to make complaints about others.
The cabin crew for Middle Eastern Airlines have it tough, every time they report for work, their jobs are on the line, if a passenger makes a complaint over a little thing, a cabin crew member gets fired. What terrible working conditions, have thought about boycotting Emirates and Qatar over the way they treat staff but at the very least I refuse to make complaints.

Being an Indian and after working for an Indian Airline for past 4 years I can tell this with a guarantee Indian pax profile is the worst. If you have dealt Indian pax you can deal with anyone

Does not sound that different from my BA crew days in the 90's. These days I fly to Australia and NZ a lot to visit family and friends and I always chose Emirates business class. For the most part I find the crew to be great but then I do go out of my way to be nice to them. On my last trip to Melbourne prior to landing I had a nose bleed from hell and the crew took such good care of me even giving me a pair of pyjamas so I did not have to leave in a blood stained shirt. I hope they are all ok and when this Convid stuff is over I shall look forward to seeing them in the 380 bar
