How an open MRI machine looks like

I know it's better than a conventional MRI but it still looks tight and I'm claustrophobic as hell.

I am claustrophobic and this is 10 x better than that tunnel MRI.

I do not consider this an open MRI. I still do not understand, we can send men to the moon and back, but they cannot figure out an MRI to configure that will not stress most people out.

I just had an mri and was scared beforehand, my mri was for my lower back .

When i got there they put me in the machine feet first ( opposite of what you see in this video ) which was amazing because my head was out pretty much and my feet were also out on the other side . I think if you have it for brain then it might look like what you see in this video but atleast the lower back was different . Hope it helps people with anxiety

If this makes you claustrophobic, then I don't want to know how you do in elevators.. at least this is open for you to escape if you freak out.. elevators, you can't.

Trying to figure out how to go through this Yesterday, I needed to do an MRI and had requested an "Open" machine like this.... I got ready and laid down and my heart was already racing. Tech gave me the panic button, as he slid me in I tried looking to my left but the roof of the MRI was about two inches from my face. I lasted less than 10 seconds and told the tech, Sorry, I can't do this" tech was most kind and gracious and pulled me out quickly. My legs were shaking and I felt out of breath. I felt like an absolute wuss, unable to control this feeling. I apologized for wasting his time and he was most kind. Years ago, I got stuck in a small vessel when working in an oil refinery and developed claustrophobia from that situation. I most def gonna need some kind of drug to keep me from panicking next time. If I even go back...Had to rant here....

Healthy but 20 years ago I had a CT scan done by my dad on an older style GE CT scanner it was a square shape with the tunnel or hole in the middle and the display and the controls were on the left and right side of the machine
