Bent Press Tutorial

Since I have started providing these kettlebell tutorials a few weeks ago, the Bent Press has been one of the most requested tutorials. So here it is broken down for you.
The Bent Press used to be a very popular lift but that was only until about 80 years ago and then it went out of fashion because the bodybuilders and powerlifters weren’t good at it and didn’t want to be tested at it. The key to strength here is primarily balance as well as a good degree of flexibility. The reason it’s difficult is because there is no “one way” to perform it. You have to find your personal groove to find success. Place your questions and comments below

Absolutely awesome and very clear and concise tutorial bro. I’ve been meaning to try this lift out for years, finally gonna get into it!

Amazing demonstration of a very technical and, for some, an awkward lift. This is a very needed tutorial. Bent press is a great example of a lift that can improve your mind/body IQ by teaching movement in space while controlling a weight.

Excellent work! ⭐

I just wanted to scrub up on this one so I could teach it today. If my students manage to get half the knowledge I've just consumed from your video then I'll be a very happy man.

A brilliant tutorial by a kettlebell legend. This is a very difficult exercise if you are round shouldered. However I do think your tutorial is worth perseverance and see where it takes me.

Great coaching as always. A side view of the lift would be helpful.

Great tutorial. I just learned this exercise this summer, but it wasn't broken down as well. This helps me a lot! Steve you're looking shredded, what have you changed in your training or eating habits? Most of us have gained a few during the shutdown :-)

Sensei, from every corner I hear that locking down the knee during some exercises may cause knee injuries. But I can't find find any detailed info on that. Can you help me please?

It looks like the kettlebell windmill is a great way to strengthen the bent over position of the bent press. Is it the same position?

Thanks Mr Cotter. Loved your video about the windmill and bent press.
Can you please do one for the side press?
Also if you could do a video on a program template of how to progress from a windmill to a bent press for a beginner it would be very helpful.

I had started practicing the windmill recently after seeing your other video
Thanks

i have hip stabiliser problems due to working from home at a desk with bad chair (covid-19 related) and not enough movement. doing physio and stretch routine for one month with minimal improvement. remembered this lift and stsrted with no wieght and then low weight (20 lbs) after the movment felt comfortable. less than one week later feel a huge improvment in pain free range of motion. also doing slow and deliberate TGU which sems to be helping as well. compelelty anecdotal but is does appear to be helping!
