Snooper Snow, It's green with white spots, and exhales a lot of smoke. Filters are recommended.

The amount of times I have triiiied to tell people that no, your gecko doesn't have Enigma Syndrome, it's just bad at hunting. My lord. I feel almost like some (typically younger) leopard gecko keepers WANT to be able to say their gecko has ES -- like it's some sort of badge of honor, or trendy term they can toss around that makes them/their gecko stand out. And lemme tell you youngins, having to care for geckos that DO actually have ES is anything but desirable. It's difficult. It's heartbreaking. And it's infuriating to know that Enigmas continue to be bred for profit.

In addition to your other points, I also agree with you on SSEs -- I have seen many of them with very strange skull structure, or even ones that have just failed to thrive altogether. My friend's SSE was suuuuper strangely shaped, and ended up biting off her own tail.

Thanks for bringing attention to these problematic morphs as always, Jessica!

God the shedding for the enigmas made me feel awful. They almost remind me of spider ball pythons with the way they act ;~;

I have a “normal leopard gecko” I really wish I knew his morph

My local pet store sells enigmas (and basically every problematic breed) I was buying some feeder crickets when I noticed that one of them looked dead, I notified a worker in hopes that they would check on her and the worker scoffed and just said “you can get it if you want, I don’t like dead things” LIKE WHAT LADY? So long story short I decided to get her so she could at least have a proper burial, on the way home I had my heat on, I noticed the cup she was in began to shake so I glanced in, it turns out she wasn’t dead, the pet store didn’t have any heat source for her, so when she finally warmed up she woke up. Her name is Taka, and the poor girl is eaten up with metabolic bone disease and she cannot eat on her own :(
I would say the name of the pet store but I don’t know if I’m legally allowed, but I called it in and it turns out the pet store has multiple cases against them for multiple types of animals

Enigma syndrome sort of reminds me of the spider wobble in ball pythons. Some are worse than others, but it’s impossible to separate the disorder from the gene.

Please watch the disclaimers in the beginning. This video is not meant to offend anyone, including ethical breeders. Please keep in mind that you should use this video as a stepping stone & check out other information on the various morphs as well. Finally, what is deemed ethical is going to vary from person to person, so be mindful that some of these morphs may not be considered ethical to one person and might be considered ethical to another. I ask that you are respectful to one another in the comments. TY ❤️

I have a tremper albino (i'm pretty sure from what I can tell) and he does pretty well. Sometimes he seems to have trouble eating (he misses)but I think it might just be cause he's quite young :) anyways I love your videos and was so exited when I saw this! keep up with your videos!

Lemonfrosts are incredibly beautiful! It’s such a shame they aren’t healthy.I think a gecko’s health adds to their beauty, tho.

I have a super snow eclipse who is.. just such an oddball. He is very hard of seeing and bad at hunting. When you mentioned them my eyes popped wide open because Ive looked everywhere online and not been able to find anybody with the same problem or linking the morph to this. Im so glad to finally hear it from somebody else!!!

Thus is a great video. I recently contacted a breeder because I didn't want to support big chain retailers for animals. The breeder sent lots of cute pictures of the two he has available. He told me they are "The first picture is a albino super snow and the other is blazing blizzard" which is Y I came here to learn more about morphs.
I also want to add that Petco or Petsmart has now started selling Leo's at like $40 and "fancy" Geckos at like $50 or $60. So disappointing. People have no idea what they are getting morph wise or what issues their poor babies could have, etc. The more I'm educated about Leo's and syndromes on Ur channel the more big box pet stores piss me off.

I own a Blizzard (she is the offspring of a Mack Snow Blizzard and a Blizzard) and she is the grumpyest gecko I own. She always tries to bite if I pick her up to check after her shedding or if I have to clean the enclosure. Sure, she's really pretty, but I prefer my much more friendly Mack Snow Albino Tremper or my dumb Tangerine (he just misses a lot when hunting, but he doesn't have any other problem and doesn't have parents or grandparents with the Enigma morph. Geckos can be dumb sometimes).

I'll add my experience: I got 2 giant (male and female), not overweight or anything, the male does fine (reproductively), the female has issues with all her eggs. No matter how much calcium I gave her, the eggs were laid "undercooked", all gelly and often one would explode either in the process of laying them or afterwards. Fortunately I never breed her more than one time. I got them since babies, so their health it's top notch, but I had no way to know that she had that issue. It's being "pet only" since. --- Now, regarding the temper on "blizzard" or "whitish" color (no spots) geckos, it's true. I got two Murphy Patternless (eclipse eyes), and got those females since practically a week old, they're a year and a half or more now, they're the "less handleable" geckos I have. They're constantly angry. Constantly "waving their tails", even if there's nothing going on. All my animals are on a close, stress free, area only I access. So yeah. Those are my two cents. I'm from Argentina, Buenos Aires city. Do it's not a "US only thing", it's the morphs themselves.

I had heard about the "more" problematic leo morphs, but I didn't think supersnows were afflicted by anything. My glorious Son is a super snow and he ain't the sharpest tool in the shed but I don't think he has the genetic problems you mentioned. Would love to learn more about the strains of them and what they are afflicted with.

I have a super snow that I bought, and it seems to have exactly what you mentioned. It’s much younger than my other leo, but it’s face looks very angular and generally different, compared to my other. And It doesn’t seem to hold weight well. The first couple weeks I had it, it refused to eat anything. Now, I feed it lots of mealworms and super worms and it remains looking very small, while my other is twice it’s size and gets fat on a smaller meal. It also seems to show some sort of visibility deficiency, but that may just be the gecko as an individual.

This information is so incredibly helpful. My son wants a leopard gecko for his birthday next month so we are doing all of the research now. This will help us know which types to shy away from.

Your channel has been such a help to us! Thank you for sharing your knowledge so willingly

I'm so glad your little beans have a place to stay and be cared for, make sure to take care of yourself too! Your videos are extremely informative, and I'm glad you find other sources!

On a side note, in case anyone is having problems with their albino being light-sensitive, I find that feeding my albino shortly after her lights go off helps to alleviate any eye strain she might get otherwise. It helps to have lots of places for them to hide out away from lights too, while still allowing them to climb on top of said things at their leisure.
