Thanks for another great tip! I'm getting started with handyman/reno work and your channel is really giving me a sense of how different the homeowner and rental markets are. Homeowners expect perfection every time and then complain about your prices. PMs and investors are clearly much more interested in "Is it functional?" "Does it at least not look like crap?" "Good here's your money!"

Quick, easy, and fair price. You must be from the past when people took care of their customers. Good for you!

I like that as a quick fix, if the particle board/mdf is dry. If it's not, and it smells (they seem to never dry here near the ocean) you have to tear out the floor, or that mold/stink/stain will just come right through. That piece of backing you preattached was a neat little trick though I have to say.

Thanks for the helpful video! I've been enjoying several of your videos, and I appreciate you talking up how much we should be charging, because I struggle with that. Cheers!

Mine has mold under the bottom board. I plan to use a jigsaw and cut out much of it so that I can clear the mold before I replicate the remainder of what you did in this video.

Exactly what I would've done -- which makes me feel better about my choices! Two questions -- what did you use for the bottom? Just some 1/4" ply? And can you tell us any more about that paint?

Nice tips thanks! Looks like a perfect fix for a rental situation.

Priceless, thanks for the tip...can we get a look at your rig? How you are setup? Do you have a trailer, do you carry a table saw and miter saw and all that?

even with it dry id have to tear it out. ive never been one that can just do cover ups even when its probably fine to. But this would be perfect for a homeowner that is on a tight budget as an alternative to cutting the bottom out.

Hey brother, can you explain how the trip fee works? Is it essentially just a minimum fee for going to do the work? Do you not charge extra for the actual work done under the cabinet? Let’s say for argument sakes they wanted you to change out a door handle too, same price? Thanks in advance. I apologize for all of the questions, I’m just a new guy in the business and pricing is my biggest fear at this point. I know how to do all of the work, it’s just the pricing that gives me the anxiety. Thanks brother

This was an easy one. What about when the floor is completely gone and there is plumbing running through it. Not out of the back of the cabinet?

Though it isn't possible on this type of cabinet, with some it is a simple matter of removing the screws from the center stile to get it out of the way. This one goes all the way to top rail of the face frame, so it's not an option here. On others, some are not glued for this very reason, but even if they are the glue joint on that end grain may be broken fairly easy without damaging the face frame.

For a primary residence I much prefer removing the old bottom of the cabinet rather than leaving old moldy material (and who knows what else under a new surface. Yeah, it takes a little longer; you have to build up a frame for the new bottom and you may have to remove drain pipes to get a single piece in, but you end up with a cabinet bottom that is flush with the face frame. Sure, most people will never notice, but craftsmen take satisfaction from knowing this, and from knowing that other craftsmen will notice if they ever have to do the job again.

How thick is the board you use?
Update: never mind, found it in comments!

Looks like it may be some great information... unfortunately the sound quality was poor as you stepped away.
