How to clean dishwasher? I test baking soda and vinegar in this video using a special dishwasher cleaning product. Will they work to get the one part that's hardest to clean??

I thought it wouldn't need to be cleaned because my dishwasher is new, and we rinse the plates. I was wrong...and you may also neglect to keep up on this important cleaning task.

DIY Method
Put a cup of baking soda on the bottom of the dishwasher, which helps with odors and stains. Turn on the dishwasher and run it on the longest and hottest setting.

Next, put 1 cup of white vinegar. Put it on the bottom of your dishwasher and repeat as you did with the baking soda.

Use a brush with some liquid detergent and clean the rubber seals and the seams of your dishwasher. Wipe down the edges with a microfiber cloth.

Always check your manual. You can find most of them online, in case there specific cleaning instructions about your model that you need to be aware of.

VERY IMPORTANT NOTE: When you add the vinegar, don't just throw it in to the bottom of the dishwasher because it will literally just drain it away instantly. Instead, place it in an upright container in one of the racks!

1) clean the filter by backflushing it with the water sprayer. i do it monthly. there is not a lot of build up but it does have a bad odor.
2) leave the door partially open to allow moisture to evaporate. same thing goes for the washing machine
3) twice a year i will add citric acid (lemi shine) to a cycle and that seems to help.

I own a Bosch dishwasher and love it (upper utensil rack, quiet running, super cleans dishes). That said, I burned out the expensive supplemental water heater (that’s incorporated into the water pump) by neglecting to clean the filter for too many months. Due to a plugged filter, the pump was apparently “starved” of flowing water, causing the incorporated heating element to over-heat and burn out. After replacing the expensive pump/heater assembly I now faithfully clean the filter every month. I should mention that I thoroughly rinse food off my dishes before placing them in the dishwasher.

The inside of the filter DOES come out. The grey piece at 2:43 unscrews. Hope that helps for a deeper, easier clean :)

You clean the filter by hand. The cleaners are designed to remove grease and minerals from places you cannot see.

I have watched many dishwasher videos. What I learned was take out the filter clean it got soapy water Make a paste of baking soda and a toothbrush clean round where the filter goes around the door clean where you put dish tablets and also the vents

When you flip the filter upside down you can twist the piece inside and it comes out.

Apparently you have to use the vinegar first, then the baking soda. We just used the Finish product. It smells odd. Next time we’ll be using the vinegar and baking soda.

thanx for your vid, my wife is down for the count with knee surgery, so I am taking over, I am clueless, the NFL does not teach you how to clean dishwashers. now I know how hard her job is, the kids, the house, jeez Louise.

I cleaned the filter with my Toothbrush and just as yours did, the result was Fabulous. I did experience one problem though. When I used the toothbrush to brush my teeth a couple hours later I burned my tongue and my mouth is now covered in assorted types of Soars. Could I have given myself Ringworm somehow?

Get a bucket and add hot water and any cleaning soap. Place filter in bucket. Let it soak over night. Brush off excess. Done.
