How to Clean Your Dishwasher

You can have a clean dishwasher without any tools! Here's how to clean the gunk sitting in the bottom of your dishwasher that prevents you from getting the best possible clean on your dishes.

Thank you SO much for this video! Just bought a house with this dishwasher installed (from 2005!) that actually still works pretty well, but could see it was very gross down there. I finally took everything apart, including removing the filter and scrubbed everything clean, even the the area below the filter. (Found giant seeds and even a cigarette butt among the gunk in the filter) Reassembled and ran a baking soda/vinegar cycle as a final cleaning, but the rotating sprayer came off during the cycle. Learned from your video that I need to rotate the one piece until it snapped into place. You're a lifesaver! (the owner manual was worthless) Crossing my fingers and seeing how long this dishwasher will last. It will reach its 17 year anniversary next week with VERY hard water! (Hoping to fix that soon) Aside from some small rust spots on the ends of the dish racks, it's looking pretty good again.

Perfect, I pulled apart my filter, all the way down, pretty gross, I was having problem by not washing properly and not sanitizing. I did a good clean, but was having problems placing everything back, thank you so much.

You're also going to want to clean the filter which would have been the next thing to remove.

Thank you. I also took off the flat, large round filter, and....there is another, whole filthy world underneath.I cleaned it all and now the dishwasher cleaned everything like a new machine.

Yea you completely forgot the main filter which is the giant disc filter. But thanks for showing how to pull out the tab lock that holds it in place I thought I was about to break it .

the one in my apartment is a different design it looks like the raised vents are actually part of the floor of the dishwasher so I can't just pop that

You really need to pull the filter out too. Underneath you will find a lot of debris. The dishwasher and sink are connected and you will find things you never thought of.

why is the dishwasher so dirty after every wash. using it is what makes it dirty. I know how to clean the diswasher.. but that doesn't make the dirt stop accumulating., what's the real solution

Why did you not bother to show the cleaning of the FILTER on the bottom. What you showed us was an exercise in FUTILITY! IOW why bother. Mine Is leaking and you have not helped me.

This video is dangerously misleading. From the plethora of viewers praising how easy these instructions were, I bet too many ended up with broken parts, rancid o😊dors, expensive replacements, or handing over hard-earned cash to a pricy technician. My first conundrum is the lack of "cleaning" happening in this video- Why would you say its "clean" if you only pulled out a few basic parts? You never got to "the bottom" or to any of the parts with the most food trappings, slime, etc. Nor did you go beyond that to the advanced parts of the machine where the blades and filters operate.
