Ikea Ivar Makeover & adding shelving to the greenhouse 🪴

This week, I took the Ikea Ivar shelf system, assembled it and gave it a makeover. I used the Ikea Ivar double cabinet and shelf system and used it as storage for my greenhouse. Let me share how to paint the Ikea Ivar and add some floral details to it too.

I used floral ReDesign by Prima furniture transfer to apply meadow flowers to the base of the Ikea Ivar cabinet. it is giving me serious cottagecore garden vibes.

Rugs on the floor will combat the echo. It's SO much fun watching the progress on your greenhouse. I'm living vicariously through you lately. I moved and am dying to set up a greenhouse/cozy outdoor space of my own but that won't happen for a couple years. I'm also taking lots of notes on your ideas.. the painted brick floor is a big one!

The idea of "faffing" is immeasurable... can't beat a good bit of "faffing", it's good for the soul!! Love the greenhouse the colour of the cabinets go beautifully with your colour of wood on the greenhouse. You styled it beautifully too Catherine. You might find that when you start doing your own seedlings you won't have the space with all the shelving needed for the job. This is the voice of experience speaking here; I got "carried away" when I did my own and ended up having to buy those plastic greenhouses because I ran out of space and then some. My garden looked amazing. I even had success with a new variety of Amaryllis, they are usually an indoor plant but I found them so beautiful in the garden in pots. Anyways, if your greenhouse gets full and it will if you start growing a bit of veg too, your next project could be a lean to conservatory. Where you can sit at your writing desk and watch your garden roll beautifully by in the reflection in the glass, ahhh! Need a cup of tea now!! Glad you have a resident Hedgehog, it could be a pregnant mamma who needed a home. When my children were small like your niece and nephew I remember getting them out of bed to watch mamma and 5 babies who came out from under my shed, where she had taken shelter, every night around the same time to forage. On one occasion we had the door open and I presume because we were quiet and still they all came to the back door. It was amazing so friendly and trusting, I think animals can tell over all about us humans. So, we would put cat food out for them regularly.
As always most enjoyable to watch but I think a lean to conservatory might make a really good project, just saying like, lol !

Your greenhouse is starting to look so fabulous 👌🤗. Love the green. Maybe at times when you are not potting ie between season..when you use it to write/work etc, put an outdoor rug on the floor, ad cushions on your chairs, that will help the echo to😊.

I love 😍 the IKEA Ivar range which is one of their longest running ranges.. And it just celebrated its 50yr birthday recently.

I love this range😍.. Some of mine are already 30+ years old and still looks perfect or even better because it has darkened with age, which I like. I don't paint real wood furniture, I like natural light wood. I have moved 6+ times with them. They are quick and easy to put together and take apart and take little space in the moving truck when dismantled. I only have them inside my house.. In my living room, under the stairs cupboard, my kids rooms, my office (where they make a floor to ceiling library wall). They are totally stable if you use the metal cross supports and even more if they have a cupboard or draw unit in them.

Hedgehog.. So cute🤗. We (my 8yr old and I) go out in the evening, collect slugs and feed them to our hedgehog that visits us! They are noisy eaters, but it is cute to watch.

PS. I always assemble Ivar in standing.. Not lying on the floor.. It is so much easier!
