I realized while editing this I missed a Black Nevermind era Strat owned by Kurt Cobain and gifted to Mark Lanegan from Screaming Trees, which sold at auction for almost $600, 000. I'll probably do another video on that one.

holy COW that was so Amazing! I had no idea Kurt had so many different guitars that were sold. Fascinating video. I recently moved to Seattle and saw the MoPop exhibit. They still have a few of his guitars in there. The MTV Unplugged acoustic guitar is so cool, 6M Dang! Thank you for making this video - nice work!

It makes me sad these guitars are bought up by oligarchs. At least sometimes they are put up in museums but still it’s depressing. They should be put on display and not sitting in some degenerate crypto bro’s office.

The high prices are ironic considering he only played cheap "garbage" guitars that other guitar players didn't want.

Kurt didn't use that Hi-Flyer for Bleach, he got that particular one after it was recorded. For Bleach, Kurt had another Hi-Flyer, but it was smashed at a Halloween show in '88. Kurt then got a Fender Mustang body, put one of his Hi-Flyer humbuckers in it and recorded the bulk of the album with that.

I remember when guitars like Fender Jaguars were super cheap before Nirvana hit. Every kid was still wanting a Les Paul like Slash. Weird.

2:57 same neck that was on the Sunburst Reading Strat. Looked up old Stewart McDonald Necks and they all had the same small fretboard markers and same spacing.

I'm sorry if I'm being a nerd but most of the album was made with the sound garden mustang

Sorry I dont know much about Nirvana. Do you think he destroyed his guitar's so people could not make money selling them? I know destroying guitars is part of the rock seen though. Cool video.

Smashing guitars, in hindsight, was a very silly thing to do. A pointless waste of instruments.

I thought the mosrite was stolen at during the nevermind recording sessions?
