She’s not a turf engineer, she an alt enviroactivist. This is bad advice for people who want a nice lawn, the dead leaves take lots of time to break down and in the process will reduce turf density which is opposite of what people want. It’s more environmentally friendly to bag them and put them in your beds or compost bins, reducing the need to buy mulch and grass seed when your lawn gets thinned out.

You also don’t have to alter your ac the way the media wants you to either.

That woman never actually worked in the yard. The grass under leave covered spots will be rotten after the rain. The lawn will be ruined quickly.

Getting a good looking lawn is at the expense of the environment. Saving the environment means a crappy lawn. Pick your poison. I try to take a middle ground stance and I allow my Kentucky bluegrass to spread naturally without fertilizer and I pull most weeds by hand. But let's get real. Raking leaves and weed control in the spring is pretty essential for a "nice lawn". Otherwise if it's mostly weeds or dead spots, it's not really a lawn
