The verse about Mary bearing these things in her heart especially points towards Luke having received much of the information in the first two chapters of his Gospel from Mary herself.

Luke is one of my favorite authors in the Bible, and much of what you went over is exactly why. I don't think God could have more perfectly chosen an author given just how careful Luke was with his sources. The various parables Luke includes in his gospel are another major reason he's up there when it comes to Biblical authors.
