I have an Equip double hammock, found it at Wal-Mart a few years ago I had to buy the tree straps separately. I upgraded the carabiners to heavier duty ones. I have an underquilt for it, and I put a woll blanket under my sleeping pad to add isulation and keep mypad i place. I use a DD 3.5x3.5 meter tarp over my hammock

A great intro for those new to hammock camping. I've been through the trial and error process of hammock camping and it's damned expensive. The idea of "budget" gear to get started is no longer an introductory thing. It's just as good for those who've been going at it for awhile. Your point that all hammocks will need replacement at some point certainly demonstates that.

15 dollar cinch buckel straps frum One Wind on a Ridge Outdoor Gear 11 foot hammock. 50 or so.
One Wind 11 and 12 foot hammocks with all the trimmins around 80 or so depending on yer choice.
Gold Armour has every shape and size and collor of rain fly in sill nylon with major tieout point for every hammock setup super cheap.
One Wind has the best sill polly rain fly with every tieout and doors for about 90.
Best of the best budget options ive ever found.

I have a "Ridge Outdoor Gear" 11' double hammock with removable bug net and ridge line...and it's awesome. Got it on Amazon 2 years ago, just looked and it's $64. Little salty, but in northern IN in the warm months the bug netting is a life saver...lol. Wide enough for a great diagonal flat lay, and has hanging pockets inside. I also have a 3x3 tarp I bought about the same time...but it's still in the bag packed away with the rest of my gear. I do have a cheap Walmart hammock that I want to say was maybe $20 that I put up when we RV camp just to lay in...and I have fallen asleep in it too.

I use the onewind 12 ft double and an aquaquest 10x10 for possible light rain .. in a diamond configuration with flying one point like you have that tarp set up for hard weather I use a 13x10 ..so I can fly the center of one side or close it down by folding the ends into doors for storm weather or wind protection .. for insulation the underquilt and if really cold I add my swagman under it too for top side a Walmart silver packable blanket down to 45 .. colder I add an ektos 90 percent wool blanket .. super cold i go with a zero rated canvas Teton sports sleeping bag .. in a top quilt configuration Never been cold

I normally set up the flying plow point tarp set up depending on weather and temps I have several tarps I use. Oil skin in winter and nylon other seasons

My favorite hammock gear comes from Dutchware. All of the options that you have for hammocks and hammock tarps from Dutch are so broad I just suggest that you check out Dutchware Gear.

As far as 10'*10' or 3m*3m tarps I don't use them with hammocks for actual camping unless I am desperate because unless you use a diamond fly they simply don't have enough coverage of it rains hard and I hate inflexibility. However ground camping my absolute favorite, with trees is the Adirondack shelter for fair weather to light to medium rain. For horrible weather a plough point. For variable weather the A-frame because you can lock it down then open it up when the weather changes. If there are no trees I go straight to the open front tarp tent. Check out Shawn Kelly's video on the set up of the "tarp tent". I have used that for years and since I always have trekking poles I can use those for a pretty fast set up when it's time for camp.

Excellent video. I've got the Kijaro Native single hammock with some homemade straps and a DD tarp. I've found that my Klymit Static V pad works best for me. I've tried my closed cell foam pad but I found that one is too slippery. Gonna try out the Swagman roll as an underquilt this spring and my Snugpak Jungle blanket as a top quilt if necessary. Definitely gonna save this so I can send it to my friends who ask about hammocks.
Also I set up using a premade ridge line and I stake out from the second tie out point so I can make doors on the front and back of my tarp.

I have an AEETT hammock. $41 and comes with everything. I swapped out the rain fly with an 8x10 Brown tarp and I love it.

I just started hammock camping this year and i like it alot better than having to deal with finding a flat ground surface for a tent. I actually have used the same tarp setup that you display in the video by using two downed tree branches, and held up well even in srong nasty weather. I live in southwest Wisconsin along the Mississippi wildlife refuge and am able to utilize the free camping along the river, wich is nice knowing im up off the ground. Im 6ft 170lbs and have been experimenting a bit with sizes and have realized that my body size doesnt need a double. I can get by with the inexpensive harbor freight parachute hammock 500lb capacity. Its a bit narrow but long enough enough to compensate for my body type and is very compactable. I think hammock camping is the way to go. I like the tarp you are using. Im gonna have to get one. I really havent been watching you enough. I think you are a really swell fellow to follow. Thanks!

Thanks for the video. That definitely looks like a good option for those new to hammock camping. My personal favorite is the OneWind line of hammocks and accessories. Their line of products are relatively inexpensive, easy to set up and there are several options for a wide range of temperatures and weather conditions. I'll usually set up a 10x12 tarp in a modified A frame so that I have an awning. Looking forward to seeing more hammock camping videos.

Informative as always. The price of this system is definitely a good option. This is another item on my list to complete, so thanks for the series. Bravo.

Looks like a viable option as a basic hammock/tarp setup Paul.
My primary shelter system is a Warbonnet Blackbird XLC hammock and a 10x13 Aqua Quest Defender tarp.

I have been looking into the crua hammock with the insulated outer. May go with a more affordable one . But i do like their ground tent hammock duo.

Thanks for the tip on the sleeping matt brother. I think I see where my mistake was on my last trip. So, I recommend the Nightcat hammock setup but for CAMPING ONLY. As far a straps go, I'm really liking the ELAGIFTTS hammock straps I've been using since this past August. The work kinda like ratchet straps. I find them easier for adjusting than the other styles. Thanks for another excellent video.
