Cats are like that kind of person who pretends he hates hugs and is so over his friends antics, but secretly inside loves them so much

My little tuxedo kitty Mittens remembered me after not seeing her for two years. I got home before she usually returns for dinner. I hid in the livingroom and when she came through the screen door, I called to her with my usual "pist pist". She froze, turned her head my way, and let out the most adorable meow when she saw me. She basicly jumped into my arms and wouldn't leave my side even to eat. I went and sat next to her food bowl so she could eat. I miss her everyday

No matter where I travel, the highlight of all my trips is coming home and seeing the cat.

I had a cat that, according to the vet, had to be given a shot to calm him down while we were on vacation and he was staying at the vet. He wouldn't eat at all and was so upset that he was actually mad at me when we picked him up and went home. He got under a coffee table and growled at me! He had been dumped out by someone at my friend's house and I think he thought that i had abandoned him as well. They for sure miss us!

Years ago I adopted a senior female from a no-kill shelter. Cherub was in the shelter for a year and she refused to interact with all potential adopters. She was waiting for her mistress who had gone into a nursing home. She was a beautiful black and white cat cat but it was very sad watching her sit there staring at the front door, waiting for someone who would never come. I adopted her and it took her some time to adapt to my home. I talked to her vet and discovered that she had been abused by the other members of her household. Brooms, trash bags and loud voices terrified her. She panicked at first because she thought I was going to hit her. It took her four months to finally calm down. When she finally did she was a joy to have around. I renamed her Samirah. She reminded me of Judge Judy in a fur coat. We had 4 wonderful years together before she died of a stroke. Not a day goes by that I don't think of her.

My parent's cat (22+ years old) passed and I found another young cat to be a companion for them. Mom didn't say much about the cat, Dad adored it. Kitty didn't interact with Mom much, but was friendly to her.
Then Mom went into the nursing home. Kitty decided Mom's bed was hers (we put down a beach towel to protect the quilt) and when Dad went to bed, Kitty made sure he was tucked in, then went over to "her" bed each night. When Mom passed, Kitty kept Dad company 24/7 until he passed a year later. We came home from the hospital and Kitty was running back and forth from his bed to his big chair and his kitchen chair, meowing. We tried to be calm and talk to her, with lots of petting, but she stressed for weeks, looking out the windows to see if Dad was coming back. Good cat.

I had to work out of town for almost three months and I left my cat with my mom. I did not realize how much my cat would miss me till I came back. When I called to her, as I entered the front yard upon my return, she came running from the backyard meowing quite loudly and with joy and her meow would change pitch each time her front paws hit the ground. It was quite emotional for both of us. That was quite some time ago and she is long dead but I still miss my sweet, Siamese cat very much.

Years ago I had a huge orange tabby called Yams. He loved to hunt and he ate his kills. He had a bond with me but accepted very few other humans. We lived in a small two story house. A few times I took road trips with friends or girlfriends. I would leave the house at a comfortable temperature, a clean litter box on each level of the house, cat toys, and enough food and water to last five times as long as I was gone. As soon as I'd return, Yams would angrily meow at me, avoid physical contact with me, and run outside into the woods. He would be gone for the number of days I'd been gone. If I'd been gone 3 days, he'd leave for 3 days. When he'd come home after "his" vacation, we were best buddies again. He was an interesting feline.

I got my cat as a young kitten and had him for 5 months when I had to fly home due to my Mom being severely ill. I stayed for 3 full months nursing her back to health. My roommate took care of my new cat while I was gone. Needless to say, I was worried that he would not only not remember me but would have bonded with my roommate while I was gone and he would be more her cat than mine. When I finally made it back home after taking a very late flight it was the middle of the night. I got in the door with my suitcase and he came bounding out of my empty room and climbed me like a tree. It was quite the welcome home. He's 12 now and still flips out even if I'm just gone overnight when I come home from a trip. He also attacks my suitcase every time he sees it.

Of course cats miss their humans. However, some may hold a “grudge” for a day or two, then they’ll forgive their human for running off and “abandoning” them.

My 15 yr old cat greets me at the door when I come home from work and gives me a meow or two to say hello.

Whenever im not around, (according to my mom & sisters) my cat doesnt like to eat. Also, shes just sleeping or napping most of the time. She doesnt go around and play. But whenever im around, shes always hungry, she likes to play, jumping, running and doing lot of things. Ughhhh, if only she can talk.

4 years ago my apt. complex decided that no one could own more than 1 animal. I had Tommy, a Tuxedo and Willie, and an orange long-haired tabby. I could not part with either. I was devastated. Finally, my sister in law agreed to take them. She was almost 300 miles away. I was thrilled that they were able to be together and she had a wonderful large home. A year later she invited me to cat-sit for 3 weeks. The boys knew me immediately and we had a wonderful time. I have been back every year and will be returning next month. They really have the best of both worlds. I am so thankful that I get to see them once a year!

the first time i had to go away for a couple weeks after getting my cat i left him with my parents, who both love and spoil him to bits. he still refused to eat until the day our timezones and schedules allowed my parents to let me facetime him. once he saw me, he immediately went for his food. i love him so much and i realised how much he loves me back ❤️

I feel like cats don’t see us as owners, but as members of their pride or litter. Cats remember you, but like people, time will help them move on if you go missing.

My boyfriend tells me that when my cat knows I’m coming home, he freaks out and starts meowing so much when I’m about to come to the door. And my Heart melted when he told me this wonderful news❤️🥺

My cat stopped eating when my mother passed. I had to hand feed him. He refused to move from her chair. It took two weeks but he recovered.

Cats and kittens do miss their humans. Just as we humans miss them. Animals feel most emotions. And act quit similar to us. You just have to love and pay attention to their needs.
