That dad protecting those kids with his whole life really touched my heart, such a brave man!

Sam Peña is a hero, if he hadn’t come to the school, those kids might not be alive today. Wow, he is amazing.

Minutes after the woman had asked if anyone seen her red dog, I was so glad when they show him, muddy and wet, looking out from under shallow rubble - alive.

Can you imagine the immense pride and just overwhelming love Benji Pena is gonna feel for his dad for the rest of his life knowing he outran that tornado just to get to him and do whatever he could to protect him and those other boys. It's got me crying; that's the purest form of love and just sheer bravery I've ever heard of.

Can we all appreciate how Sam Peña went full beast-mode to protect those kids? Moms give you life, and Dads hold an entire ceiling up with their bare hands to make sure that you keep it.

I can’t imagine telling kids “if I go, you stay”. That had to be a really hard thing to say in an elementary school. Sam was amazing and kept them calm!

When the news guy cried during his report on the children had died was emotional. This is so sad

I'm a bricklayer and every time we build something that might be construed as a tornado shelter I make sure to take extra steps to be positive it's all tied in and solid

This weatherman is as tough as nails. I could never hold myself together to report that a tornado was about to hit my own neighborhood.

What really hit me hard was the clip where the woman was walking through the school looking at the damage done, and hearing all those poor petrified kids screaming and crying, it broke my heart

“I mean i live right there so you can imagine the emotions I’m going through right now.”

Man tries to keep others safe whilst knowing his home is being ripped apart as we speak.

Let’s take a second and appreciate Benji Peña’s dad. He saved his boy and three of his classmates from debris. He wedged his body in between the boys and the debris coming down from the ceiling and everywhere else. We thank you for your outstanding bravery and commitment to saving those boy’s lives. As for the first responders who may have died while saving and rescuing people in the path of the tornado, we will never forget your sacrifice and will forever be grateful for your service to Moore. ❤️

That dad has so much street cred with his kid and friends. He has got to be the biggest hero in thier eyes. Like when they are in their 40's they are still talking about the dad who throwing walls and sheilding them from a tornado

"my dad, he uh, grabbed those walls and threw them" HELL YEAH HE DID

The dad honestly was a hero he showed up at the right time and did what he was supposed to do and saved those kids that day. The wall would have fallen if he hadn’t shown up to hold the wall together.

The kid that gave Sam's son the hoodie, and the gentleman that gave them a ride did the most simple act of kindness. But to Sam, they meant the world. Here were two people that lost a lot, if not everything, and were still willing to help someone else. As Mr. Rogers said, look for the helpers ❤️

every school in tornado alley should have an underground shelter.

i lived in moore when this tornado hit. i was sheltering at my grandma's house a town away, but my two dogs and my cat were at my house in moore. i remember watching the news crying thinking my house was gone and my pets were dead. i was 10. luckily my house was only damaged and my animals made it out ok, but driving through the town after the tornado hit... mind blowing. truly tragic.

I think Benji's dad deserves dad of the year, a huge hero who saved lives and kept strong...

Moore is my hometown and thankfully I can confirm that all of our Moore Public Schools have built shelters. The gyms in every school were rebuilt into tornado safe rooms so there is plenty of room for the entire school to take shelter. It is a huge relief .
