It's interesting seeing the reactions to these missing person's cases.

With Michael Mosley, there was widespread concern, a great search followed by an outpouring of public grief, he was a man who will be remembered very fondly by many due to his work as a public doctor, his kind demeanor and goodness as a married family man.

But with Jay Slater, once people found out about his past the public perception rapidly turned from him being a likeable and relatable youth who got lost after a night out in a foriegn country, to this teenage antisocial hoodlum with a violent criminal past, a blight on his local community (and who never properly repented for his actions) and who travelled to another country to rave, take drugs and possibly commit other crimes on their turf. And so angered are people by this (on both sides!), that the reaction by many to the search being called off so early can pretty much be summed up as "Good riddance", with many people being more sympathetic to the locals put through this drama than the family who've lost a son.

And people distrust and dislike the missing mans family not just because of the mindset that to produce such an individual he must have been raised by amoral people, but various actions on their part have worsened the lack of trust, i.e. the friend not revealing potentially crucial information until almost 2 weeks afterwards, to the family not actively searching for him themselves (and apparently being rude to locals).

They say that all human life is equal, but I think that nobody actually views it that way in real life, with how someone choosing to conduct their life very much affecting others perception not just of their value to society, but as a human being (full stop).

I hope that the body is found soon (and lets face it, if he did get lost in the wilderness then we probably are looking at a body and not a survivor at this point) and that this all turns out to be a tragic accident rather than something far more sketchy which happened because of the man's actions (or his friends or families actions), because not only would the latter cement their reputation as terrible no-good people potentially for the rest of their lives (which will also be a burden & a curse that their future children may have to carry & undo too), but also harm the reputation of British tourists as a whole.

This is all a very sobering lesson that if you want people to value your life, then you need live like a decent human being.

They can’t find him because he’s not there and the police know it

They should start searching for the reason he wasn’t sent to jail years ago

Maybe if family and friends told true from day 1 he might have been found 🤔 good or bad news

Why can't they simply grasp that he could've only travelled so far in the area, they haven't found him, and this tells me that foul play is involved here.

Just reminds me of the Nicola Bulley case. A complete mystery is an understatement. Hope he gets found and his family gets the closure they fully need and deserve

We can’t expect them to continue to search. How long would the uk search for a Spaniard in the highlands I wonder

Wouldn't the bus have passed him multiple times during that 11 hours 😂

Any reasonable person understands that two weeks of searching is more than enough. The Garda can’t continue forever. It is just an unfortunate situation - and such things happen in life.

If what Lucy said is true, and he called her at 830am, having only walked 30 mins from the airbnb, cut his leg, was thirsty and hungover/on a come down.. surely he wouldnt of gotten that far.. it all smells bad to me and nothing adds up.. really bizarre, I do hope the family can get some closure, I have a feeling its going to go cold...

Search called off. Police have probably concluded, if Lucy's 'business associates' have taken Jay, not even Liam Neeson is gonna find him...
