I think it’s good to know that in "S" mode while using peddle shifters, the IS will still automatically shift down when you hit the brakes while coming to a stop. This makes it safer in a sense because the car will not stall at a higher gear. But the opposite is not true in that the car will not automatically shift to a higher gear even if you redline it. Thus, you need to be mindful of the rpm when stepping hard on the accelerator.
