Earlier this month, the CDC issued a warning about parvovirus B19, a seasonal respiratory virus sometimes called fifth disease. This virus can result in mild flu-like symptoms and a red "slapped cheek" rash on the face. Although it mostly affects children, people of any age can be infected. Pregnant women, people with weakened immune systems, and people with certain blood disorders should take extra care.
