I didn't include in the video the mention of Igor Krutoy giving a standing ovation at the end - very cool!

React to Dimash "AVE MARIA"

The 'goat's trill' is part of traditional Turkic music, particularly in mourning songs. A tribute to the original singer from A Studio who passed away.

This was the video that convinced me Dimash is in fact a siren. Beautiful ethereal, slightly eerie high notes. Check. Doesn't need to breathe. Check. Absolutely mesmerizing. Check.

For those who like information about Dimas' songs:
Sinful Passion - The story behind this song is very interesting: The band that accompanies Dimash is the same one that composed the song, without the singer who died after a heart attack! The band is also from Kazakhstan and this performance by Dimash revitalized the song. Moreover, in the final part he added, with an oriental technique (from the Kazakhstan region). The song was originally performed in 1998 and the band name is A'Studio (Kazakh pop music group based in Russia, "Alma-Ata Studio", Almaty city). The dead singer (who Dimash was a fan of) left the band in 2000 and passed away in 2015 and his name was Batyrkhan Shukenov. The lyrics are by the poetess Ilia Reznik together with Baigaly Serkebayev, who is the long-haired keyboardist, who we see in the video that accompanies Dimash.
Hugs from Brazil!

there's nothing much that compares with a 22 second vocal run on one breath.

I am really enjoying your reactions to and explanations of Dimash's music. Thank you for taking this journey. As a Dear, watching someone else learn about Dimash is always a joy....especially if that someone is as knowledgeable as you are. I hope you continue to explore Dimash. Even after years of following him, I'm continually surprised by his innovations. Believe it or not, he's still a work-in-progress.

My absolute top recommendation for you would be Ikanaide, from the Tokyo Jazz Festival. I feel like it's Dimash's grand-masterpiece. It's the most nuanced, intricate, emotion-inundated performance I've ever seen, of anything. A master-class in conveying emotion and telling a story in a language that not only do I not understand... but neither does he.

The composer originally sang it himself, not trusting anyone else with the emotion. The title (said EE-kah-NAH-ee-DAY), which means "Please don't go, " is sung many, many times, and every single one is meant to be with a different emotion and connotation, and the composer said that Dimash did it even better than he did.

I find your reaction and comments very educational. Since finding Dimash on YouTube, I’ve learned so much about singing and the decisions made with the music accompaniment of Dimash’s singing. Thank you for your details around each performance of Dimash. He’s the only person I follow on YouTube. He’s the best singer I’ve ever heard. I’m so happy to be alive to hear an amazing talent like Dimash.

Браво!!! А тот мужчина в белой рубашке, который стоя опладировал в конце произведения, и есть композитор Игорь Крутой. Вы его упомянули во втором видео.

Somewhere in the hundreds of comments you may already have learned that the guy in the white shirt at the end, starting the standing ovation, is Russian composer Igor Krutoy. He came out of retirement after this to work with Dimash, which is why we have Stranger, Ave Maria, Ogni PIetra, and all those other wonderful collaborations.

I really like the cello and/or bassoon accompanying Dimash. Something about those sounds really compliment his voice.

Great reaction==love the analysis!

That's why he's so special! ❤ Dimash is blending the styles, always singing with an Operatic flare.

Freddie Mercury always wanted to bring Opera to the masses but it never happened. I think Dimash will realize Freddie's dream one day. ❤
