A new tierlist using a ton of tournament results showed up on reddit today, and I had to break down all the surprising results, including Mewtwo EX's collapse in the meta.

Hopefully there's a supporter card to help dual energy decks soon. I think that would be the number 1 thing to make more decks viable and keep the meta fresh longer

When I got the promo Butterfree, I wanted to try it somewhere, and I thought "Arcanine EX could really benefit from a potion every turn" and Arcanine really did end up surprising me, so I believe this data for sure. I don't know that my deck was the best way to play Arcanine EX, but I understand how the card can be really good.

In every deck, the legendary birds are prominent. It actually makes me really happy that PTCGP is cannonically accurate!

Pika EX should cost 1 energy to attack for every benched pokemon, so yes 3 energy for 90 is a big nerf, but you get the flexibility of being able to attack for 30 for only 1 energy

As someone who plays a lot of Exeggutor-Venusaur, seeing it in Dragonite Tier (lol) isn't that surprising. It's a slow deck when you think about it. You're reliant on a Stage 2 whose 3 energy attack is bad and a 4 energy attack which only does 100 damage, with no ramp whatsoever. As such, you get stomped by a lot of faster decks, especially if you don't get the early Exeggutor-ex. Plus the deck gets omega rolled by Sabrina as they can pull your Bulbasaur or Ivysaur into the fray for an easy KO.
Exeggutor-ex feels great. We just need another good aggressive Grass to compliment it, and Venusaur isn't it.

Not too surprising in regards to Mewtwo ex. As a F2P player, I managed to throw together a Mewtwo ex deck by focusing my initial hourglasses on Mewtwo packs. It bricks. Like way more than a "top-tier" deck should.

After Mewtwo packs, I started focusing on Charizard packs, and got a Moltres ex from a pack pull and another from a Wonder Pick. No Charizards or Arcanines, but I did have Centiskorches, and that deck has been far more consistent for me. Also helps that Centiskorch one-shots Pikachu ex.

I'm surprised that Alakazam Weezing has such a low win rate in tournaments. It's been my main deck for this past week and has performed well for me. I've thrown in a Farfetch for late game point snipes. Against both Pikachu and MewTwo it does pretty well, assuming my draws aren't hilariously bad. StarmieEX is the only deck I really struggle with when those draws aren't consistent and causes me to wiff getting Weezing setup early.

Starmie EX + Meowth as a base build is good. I’ve had a 89% win rate with starmie + meowth

Raichu is the best in the Pika EX mirror match because he consistently one-shots Pika EX, I assume, which is probably why they top the chart- Electrode is cheeks against Pika EX.

My favorite deck is Dragonite + Wheezing using Koga and Meowth to stall the game long enough to get Dragonite online. it's fun, but not exactly meta, lol

I’ve been playing a lot of Mewtwo, Koga, and Blaine deck. And surprisingly, my wins are a lot more consistent with Koga. Mewtwo and Blaine can brick hard and thats not the recipe against the lord rat almighty

Raichu is specifically good because it's good in the mirrormatch. Trade a Pikachu EX with the opponent then finish them off instantly with a Raichu play.

Weezing-Arbok slaughters all the Mewtwo decks I’ve faced and does well against most decks really, only deck I’ve consistently lost to is Pika Ex because that just gets setup too fast.
