I am not an admin on the sharepoint server. So i cannot rdp into that server but i want to use powershell from a client laptop and retrieve the list data from sharepoint site ( which i have access ). Can this be done ? Is there a client tool / module install that needs to be done ?

Very helpful tutorial, thank you! Is there a way to write this code into a powershell script and make it start automatically in some time during the day? There could be a problem with making it run as administrator and starting it when the server user is logged off.

This is awesome! Is there a similar way to import data from SQL server to Sharepoint list using powershell?

This is a great tutorial! Could you perform the same operation using REST calls through PowerShell? That would allow the operation to run on a machine that is not part of the farm.

Hi Shane,

I'd like to ask if you have tried to do a copy of list from Sharepoint 2013 to Sharepoint Online in powershell? There is a field coming from an external list (SQL Server). Is this doable? Is it efficient to do it through powershell?

Hi Shane,
I tried to copy word and pdf documents from one library to another document library I am getting the error:
"Exception calling "Update" with "0" argument(s): To add an item to a document library, use SPFileCollection.Add(). Are files/documents handled differently?
Thank you in advance
