A book that goes with what I.T. Career Questions is trying to get across is Learn Windows PowerShell In A Month of Lunches Third Edition( the Latest book, 2017) by Don Jones and Jeffery D. Hicks. Don Jones also has a YouTube channel but its of his older edition of this book. I have this book and its great. It gets straight to the point and is only 300 pages of no nonsense lessons and explanations. Good to have also as a reference.

If powershell is so great why can I not find a video that clearly explains it ??

Probably shouldn't be saying "stay tuned" in the first 3 seconds of the video haha. Made me worry

Powershell is waaay more powerful than just using the GUI cause it can do pipelines, utilize the dotNet framework and setup entire network of computers in just a few keystrokes. Now if only it has VIM built in..

Powershell has a very steep learning curve. I tried watching various tutorial videos and I'm still having trouble getting it. I have my A+ and Network+ certifications. It's funny that none of those courses teach about powershell. They teach a lot about the command prompt. Even Professor Messer's videos don't teach about powershell.

thanks for your videos you post, i have only just found your youtube channel and it looks quite good so far and hope i can learn from watching...but i am just seeing wether you could give me any pointers/guidance/etc...about what type of IT career/hobby i could learn to hopefully gain employment in the future...i am 45yrs old n from the UK, and am self taught about PCs...only basics like installing windows, trouble-shooting PCs when family/friends get PC problems, plus i can build desktop towers (like i said ...all the easy basic things)...but i would love to turn my hobby into a career but dont know where to start, like what courses should i take, and what line of PC work to work in(future)...my mate who works in IT(network engineer) has said i should learn power-shell, but is there career options for someone who only knows POWER-SHELL....so i would be grateful for any info and guidance on where abouts i would start and what subjects to learn...mate also mentioned CISQO, but will some newer type of thing took over and cisqo be old...any info welcome...

What do you think of Bash? I have experince in the Security field (entry) and trying to pickup either Bash or Phython. Do you think Powershell would be better?

Add the lines below to your PowerShell ISE profile with the dark console background, and never again be embarrassed by RED ON BLACK ERROR ERROR ERROR:

PS C:\> psEdit $PROFILE

= 'lightgreen'

I'm 20 years old with no IT experience, degree or certifications. I just started studying for the CompTIA A+ a few days ago but should I just stop and go straight to getting my Cisco certifications? My main goal is to get into security. I don't want to waste my time and money. Please and thank you! Love your videos they are truly amazing! 😄
