In my opinion, Steven was a victim of domestic violence. The most dangerous time for victims is when they decide to leave. I'm heartbroken for his family and I wish he could've escaped to live his life on peace. He was so young.

Mary Katherine needs to go to prison for a long time. Her emotional abuse is the same as many men do to women. Threats about suicide and the lot. She was mad because she knew he was leaving.

Mary Katherine Higdon reminded me of my sister. She's unstable too. And has no impulse control. She will also blow up your phone if you don't answer, because she feels slighted, and her rage is building. You got to hear what SHE has to say, and only once she's finished is when she feels the conversation is over, who cares about what you have to say. So I can very well believe that MKH shot him in the heat of anger, thinking she has to make her point, with no regard to long-term consequences. Then only after the shooting would the gravity of the situation sink in. So I can very much believe she didn't want him dead and was truly freaking out afterwards, but you can't just do stuff and not think about the consequences, because sometimes you can't undo what you did, as in this case.

I was at my 'friend's' house when her husband came home. I turned on my cell phone camera because I thought I was going to catch a tender moment between the two. Instead I saw her go from a "sweet li'l ol thing" to a screaming, ugly dog. At first verbally accusing him of being late, cheating, lazy, etc. He said 'sorry' over and over and when he asked for a hug she literally turned and slapped him across the face. He walked away embarrassed. I walked out to my car and called the police. Showed them the video and she was arrested. Whether he wanted it or not. His family intervened, helped him not only get a divorce, but full custody of his son.
