ABOUT…
I am Rebecca and I am one heck of a passionate vocal coach/singer/songwriter/impressionist/health/fitness/self- improvement/anything that makes me smile!! I love anything vocal/singing related and geek out on it every day. I want to motivate and inspire others to follow their dreams…corny? Well maybe but it’s true. So what’s motivating me?? I had a huge tumour removed summer 2017 and my ovaries and fallopian tubes. The tumour was the size of a 20 week baby!! However, despite not being able to walk for a couple of weeks, and feeling generally awful…. It has made me create and do what I love! It wasn’t an easy time but I won’t let fear dictate my life. I didn’t think ‘why me’, there are plenty of horrific issues people have to deal with…it’s not always smooth sailing. It’s true when you hear, ‘Life is short’, the crazy thing is, I am glad it happened…I appreciate life even more and practice gratitude everyday…It’s so easy to get caught up with the little things…and I do sometimes, but look at the bigger picture, will it matter in a year or two…?

Also thank you for all your support. It means a lot.

You cannot teach someone, to sing like her. There will never be anyone like her again.

"the best female voice in the world: melodic, tuneful and distinctive." - Paul McCartney, on Karen Carpenter.

I'm a 56 year old man who grew up in the 70s listening to my parent's Carpenters albums. Her voice still brings a tear to my eye, I can't help it.

They called her one take Karen. She nailed it on the first take! Perfect pitch, rhythm, and delivery. Never to be replaced.

You can actually hear every single word. Her singing was effortless. So, so sad what happened to her. The best female voice ever and I'm 67 so I've listened to plenty of vocalists.

Karen’s voice was the voice of an angel. Pure, real, clear. No autotune!

I had such a crush on her voice when a was a child. And age hasn't diminished the feelings I feel whenever I hear Karen Carpenter's voice.

"Close to you" was released in the summer a year after the moon landing. To me it was a time when the world seemed to be filled with hope. As a 13 year old boy hearing that song for the first time was magical. She created a moment of optimistic love in my heart that I never experienced before. I miss her. I miss feeling that way.

Karen was one of the most stunning pitch perfect singers of all time. Her notes were dead on. Decades before auto tune technology could make nearly anyone a virtuoso. ❤

No gimmicks, no auto tune, no doubt one of the greatest voices to ever grace the world!

I saw her live backstage in 1970 in Minot, ND... no words to describe the experience.

Her voice is the most relaxing voice ever. She was also known as when she recorded did it in one take. That is how remarkable she was.

And Richard was so young when he put together these arrangements. He was a genius

Karen Carpenter treated her voice like a fine instrument and molded it to clearly communicate in perfect synchronization with the music. There was rarely any unnecessary vibrato tremolo or trills that would be detract from the musicality or versing of the song. Also, her brother's musical talent and vocal harmonies match the creative and performative brilliance of her sister. Karen seems to have had either perfect pitch or very good relative pitch. She also had a perfect sense of rhythm and excellent coordination in mind and body. The bottom line for me however is that she was able to effectively convey the proper emotional mood in a story/song purely through her musical genius.

This song has aged so very well. 53 years. Hard to believe.
