I'm sick of over-edited youtube videos that are overflowing with animated subtitles, memes, shake effects, sound effects, explosions, and more. There are some youtubers who do all that and I suppose it suits their personality, but it's really awkward when it's clearly not their style or personality, and they think by adding all that stuff will get them views.

Noted, for me my edits are mostly eliminating gaps between words so that the viewer has an easier time following with what i’m trying to explain

My editing isn’t too complex or anything, I always think to myself that I need better more complex editing to get better results. Good to know that’s not always the case.

I do this not only for views but for the memory and satisfaction of a job well done. I am a perfectionist and strive to make things better and better. Not there yet but will keep working at it.

You are right.. None so far. I might start using Canva especially for thumb nails. So far just what I know how to do. You are right. I have >206'% retention on a simple, plain story using a yellow strainer and tap to talk about CKD.

I mainly just do jump cuts around the more boring parts and try to keep it simple because I don’t understand editing much. Some videos do fairly well but most kinda fall flat I dunno if it’s my editing personality or what but I just need help and don’t know where to get it.

yea as a viewer i actually like slower videos with a good personality and as a creator i like creating things that i would watch if i found on youtube.

You are speaking facts, it's so annoying to watch a video that feels like I had a flashbang right in my face. You see a lot of gaming YouTubers who do this and honestly some of it isn't very good. A lot of effort in overused and ridiculous affects which can ruin the video. But this depends on the content you are making I guess.
