I am an older white guy, and I am grateful to The Rolling Stones for having covered so many great blues / soul music songs and introduced me to this great music. They covered this song way back when. Also, covered Cry to Me. I probably would never have known about Solomon Burke if not for the Stones. Thank you, Brian Jones. You loved this music and introduced a whole generation of white kids to it. You died much too soon. Respect and many thanks to Solomon Burke and all the other great black artists of those days. You have enriched the lives of millions around the world.

For anybody who don't know what soul is just listen to this song, Solomon Burke another son of Philadelphia who had to split town to make his music all because of the narrow mind of Dick Clark, a year later Dick Clark packed his bags and headed for LA which opened one of the greatest eras in black music, Kenny Gamble and Leon Huff's sound of Philadelphia

I had the same journey. I bought the Stones 5×5 EP in 1964 which covered this song. They introduced me to blues and soul which has been a life long love.

Stones covered this well but I think I like this one a bit more.  sort of like two different songs.  Both renditions excellent.  YouTube rocks by making all this so easily available to music freaks such as I...Ed<><
