Here we port a P08 D16z6 Head and we share dyno sheets of a stock head
vs our ported head and then some... We discuss the certain approach we do
and as well as the certain grits we use for shaping and then the final finishing touches
oh and btw all 3 runs, there was no cam change done, I realize there are some there that do some tests but secretly change cams to show better numbers

look at the dyno sheets all 3 u can tell the same cam was maintained as the shape of the graph is consistent

We also talk about our use of Dykem and Marker ink on helping view the pattern and also for port matching needs and many more

a video that would help compliment is this port matching video here

Liking and sharing this video helps get it to a wider audience as it favors those who are wishing to understand and learn about these things
we covered a Pr3 b16 head, a crv p75 head and even a d16y8 sohc vtec head so this P08 is right in time

A 97whp increase from just a ported head is absolutely insane 😳, goes to show how efficient that port was, motor breathe much better, great job on that!

Heads can make a world of difference, I have a Jeep 258, Dyno'ed old stock head (low intake and 90° turn into valve) and then switched to a newer 4.0 7120 Head (Intake is raised up and allows more flow). No other changes, didn't port or match or ANYTHING, just slapped on a newer design with better flow but still factory crap, lol.

Dyno'ed yesterday with new 4.0 head.
Previous 258 Head: 103.7 HP 188.6 TQ

Current 258 with 7120 4.0 Head: 127.3 HP 211.2 TQ
Overall gain: + 23.6 HP + 22.7 TQ

That's huge with no tooling work done, plus my RPM limit raised about another 750!!

Next is the Aluminum Edelbrock head, this is when things will get FUN. But I post to say, yeah, they are often overlooked by many.

I did a port job for a buddy many years ago on his d16 and he dynoed 148whp. And im not a professional but have done a fair bit of porting before. You explain all the details very well.

New project here! D16zc skunk2 cam build with P29 pistons

And Hopefully this is being watched with sensibility and common sense :) a lot can be picked up in this one that can be advantageous to your own project

A more aggresive camshaft, racing springs, and a head port are all you need to make 40+ hp.

96WHP gain on a single cam is insane! I need to do this when I rebuild my civic engine...

Very nice Sir!! why not shape a little around the intake valve bosses, loose velocity or not necessary in this application just curious about that particular area always intrigue me!! 👍💪

So you didnt know this was going to be a turbo engine? This is how you port one of these heads in general? Are there specific changes you aim for with NA vs Turbo porting?

Is there different models for the z6 engine, im in the uk and we have “esi” del sol and eg. Are they both like for like or is a specific model one to go for.

I have an 7th gen EP2 which has a d16v1, no mod support for power

Do you think porting the head on a stock engine with bolt ons would merit decent horsepower?

What's the difference between a D16Z6 VTEC head and a d15b VTech Head from what I heard they are basically the same I'm trying to figure out I want to put a d15 on a d16 z6 built bottom half with with h beam rods YCP pistons but I am planning on rebuilding the head with some BC valve springs Ferrara valves and a street Savage cam from speed factory I originally bought all the parts for a d16 head wondering can I still use the parts and put it in a d15 b head I'm assuming I can what's your opinion

Bro what you think about a d15b2 block with a d16z6 head a 272 cam but with out the VTEC will be a nice set up all motor including the y8 head gasket compression probably 10.1-5 reason the VTEC really start to pull in higher rpm compare to no VTEC what you think plus less expensive with computer crap

This while you are in there attitude porting makes a big difference to almost any engine 1 ltr or, 7ltr self ported two mgb carburettored cars huge power gains on original heads, economy and acceleration, from factory can be bad even BMW's can be improved as manufactured with minimum engineering your free time makes all the difference, port from air filter to outlet manifold removing the rough cast to speed the flow.
