Myostatin Inhibitor: Do Myostatin Blockers Work?

The bodybuilding supplement industry is absolutely packed with over-hyped, over-priced products that don't deliver on their promises, and myostatin inhibitors are right at the top of that list.

What is myostatin? Basically, it's a gene in humans that codes to limit the total amount of muscle that a person can build. When the myostatin gene is altered, hugely elevated levels of muscle size and strength result. (Liam Hoekstra is a famous example)

Supplement companies have taken advantage of this fact by developing "myostatin blockers" that are designed to reduce the activity of the gene and help you build muscle mass at a faster rate. Most of the myostatin blockers for sale are based on a brown seaweed extract known as "cystoseira canariensis".

Do myostatin blockers work? Currently, there isn't a single shred of scientific data to suggest that this "magical brown seaweed" has any effect whatsoever on the myostatin gene, and this is simply a case of fairy tale supplement marketing taken to the extreme.

Scientists at the leading edge of the research still don't fully understand myostatin's function in humans or exactly how it relates to muscle growth, and you can be sure that the supplement companies behind these products don't either.

When you read many of the myostatin inhibitor reviews online you'll often see pictures of the mice and cattle who have undergone myostatin alterations and possess hugely muscular bodies as a result. However, these effects were achieved using genetic engineering techniques and NOT through the use of brown seaweed extract.

At the end of the day, myostatin inhibitor supplements are nothing more than a massive waste of money, and the people behind these scam products (such as "MHP Myo-X") should be ashamed of themselves. My advice without question is to avoid these myostatin blocker products and invest your money elsewhere.

The placebo effect can be a very powerful thing. The claims made about Myo-X are downright laughable.

Damn Sean….. been dropping that knowledge for decades now.

Hi Sean ... Just watching some of ur old videos 😝 after 8 years is there any new info / studies on this subject ? :)

Intense exercise reduces myostatin levels (tested) by ~60 percent just by itself.
There are a couple of types of peptides which also supposedly work to inhibit myostatin, and nothing else works. Whether there's any real gain to be found with those peptides however remains to be seen.

From what I have learned in genetics, If something is found in the genes (in this case myostatin) there is no way that an "inhibitor" can be created because genes are made up by your DNA genetic sequence and we know that DNA is found in all cells within the body. So if and mystatin inhibitor was created it would have to change your genetic/DNA makeup in all of your cells throughout your whole body and in order to do that you would have to go through gene therapy or other methods. The only way that myostatin can be elemintated from your genes/DNA is if you have a genetic mutation in your DNA sequence when you are developing in your mothers womb. Correct me if I'm wrong please this is just my assumption form what I have learned in genetics.

So your saying the 80.00 bottle of myo-x is useless! Thanks, you just saved me some loot. Was torn about adding this to my supplement intake but after this video I'm second questing.

thank you i read and seen some good reviews based on myostatin blockers and wasnt finding any real evidence to back it up, they must be some sort of protein and creatine blend labeled as myo blockers, awesome video !

So, we know that myostatin blockers on the market are highly overrated, now, if they could come up with an effective way of getting rid of myostatin.

There are more myostatin inhibitors than seaweed extract as MHP MYO-X. If you review the general subject include all different options.
