In your opinion, would pulling the crossmember and lowering the tranny a bit with a jack have made it easier?

Yep I feel your pain. I'm half way through removing the joint but still having issues driving the expanding pins out with a 5cm backswing. The bolt is free after a but of persuasion (definitely should have removed the pin first) but the bush was so crumbled it wasn't too bad...

After I replaced mine, the shifter doesn't sit centered. Any ideas on why?

Could you link the parts asw as the short shifter my gearbox shakes alot worse then that while in 2nd 4th and reverse its still shakey

Not looking forward to this job after the immense struggle shift bushings already were.. That was a big upgrade though, I imagine this will be too. Gonna see if I can find an upgraded aftermarket part for a reasonable price. Hope you're still enjoying your bugeye!

Mine is a lot worse on my forester and i cant get the pins out no matter what i have tried im about to take a drill to it and replace the pins with a nut and bolt
