I actually got to meet him a few times. Our beach houses were next door to each other. For a few months of the year every so often he literally was my neighbor. He was not playing a character. He was literally like that irl. He loved playing piano, swimming, and meeting new people. Even animals would literally go right up to him and let him pet them.

I was 12 when I saw him for the last time. I had no idea he was sick. I think he knew and didn't want to make anyone upset. Then I remembered what he said to me when my grandfather died "It's okay to cry and feel sad. Just make sure to feel happy sometimes too. Everyone has their time to come and go, but the good times you had together can never be taken away. Those are yours to keep with you."

I could really use him in my life as an adult. No one tells you how much worse things get when you grow up. Thanks for all the great times Mr. Rogers. You'll always be my neighbor! ❤
