He regrets buying it because the price changes afterwards. Saved you all so much time ❤

You know what I hate? When they make a title "I regret it" and then don't fucking tell you why for like 11 minutes in a 5 minute video. Just tell us what the goddamn issue is Jesus christ.

I would upgrade to a 7800X3D along with all the other compatible components but my wallet is bottlenecking me.

Skip to 6:19 to get to the point lol. TLDW is that the processor has diminishing returns at higher resolutions which is obvious. Still beneficial though and even outperforms processors that cost more and it's also on a new AM5 socket that will be supported for years to come. Basically just get a 5800X3D if you're limited on budget but know that it's on a dead AM4 platform.

We should also consider that anyone in a position to spend a minimum of $1600 dollars (usually more) on a 4090 is not usually looking for where they can cut corners on their build. Price-to-performance really only matters when you’re limited by your budget. (Admittedly, that is most of us but most of us also can’t afford a 4090 no matter what cpu we pair with it)

The same can be said about all modern CPUs. The point is that the AM5 has a long way to go, and investing in it can save you money down the track when the Ryzen 8000 and 9000 CPUs are released.

a big thing people overlook is these 3d chips help a ton in MMOs at all resolutions. if you play MMOs, the 3d chip is a must buy. i recently upgraded from a 3700x to a 5800x3d and framerate is just so much smoother cuz the lows improved CONSIDERABLY.

Whoo Hoo! This video was really a welcome view IMO as I'm actually running on a 5800X3d and was thinking of going to a new AM5 build using the 7800X3d. Now, I'll just wait toward the end of the AM5 platform to do a build.

I think there is another way to look at this. The 7800X3D is a great chip when paired with a 4090, just like the 5800X3D is, however, we can only assume that the performance of the 7800X3D will become more apparent in the next generation of GPU's. In the same way the 5800X3D really shines right now. For me, the biggest reason I went 7800X3D is the platform longevity. AM4 is amazing, but I wanted something that I could upgrade over the next 3-4 years. (hopefully)

I mean as you showed with the benchmarks, I saw those 1 % low and 0, 1 % low are quite better on the 7800X3D so for me that is a yes.

They said as long as you download the latest bios and not overclock it, it will be fine. If the voltages are too high it's recommended to tune then down

The "fastest gaming CPU ever made" changes every year when new things come out 😂

Honestly makes sense if you already have an AM4 rig built. In my case, I’m looking to build from scratch my first ever, so I’m considering going AM5

Valid point. Something to keep in mind is that am4 is at end of life. I considered pairing a 4090 with a 7600(x) for the reasons you stated and upgradeability but I think the 7800x3d will remain more relevant with future GPU upgrades

The average framerate may be nearly the same, but the 1% lows and .1% lows looked like significant improvements, like 10+FPS, or 10-15%, in half your games there. That can be a noticeable improvement in the smoothness.

I love my 5800x3d. IT was a great last upgrade for my AM4 system BUT if I was building new I would got with the 7800x3d. I want to be able to enjoy that wonderful upgradability that I enjoyed on AM4.

Your argument has one fatal flaw. Future proofing. Could you get away with 5800X3D? Sure, is it going to last you as long? No. 7800X3D allows me to upgrade my GPU later to the 6080 or 7080 without having to upgrade my CPU at the same time. It also allows me to use FSR/DLSS when games get to GPU demanding. If I went with a 5800X3D, FSR/DLSS stresses the CPU more and therefore may have little to no effect on future games. The 7800X3D also allows me an upgrade path, 5800X3D does not

No upgrade in the future if you go with AM4!

People who buy 4090's don't care about 200 or 300 dollars. I know because I'm that guy.
