What’s also mindboggling is that the 14Ultra is £1300 in UK, yet on a recent trip to HK with my friend, he managed to get it for £800 with the photography kit and the travel kit thrown in for free from the official brick/mortar store.

JPG side, it really is interesting how Apple, Samsung, Pixels (to an extent also Oppo, Vivo* & OnePlus) all oversharpen the image whilst actually having less detail. Normal people/techtubers will look at it at a glance and conclude that iPhone (for example) has more detail, which simply isn't true. Also comes with other caveats such as haloing and artifacting.

Xiaomi 14 Ultra user here. I've been using the phone for almost a year, and I gotta say, the ULTRA moniker really lives up to expectations. All the lenses work great, although there are a few times when it produces inconsistent output, and the shutter speed could be quicker. But all in all, I really love everything this phone produces. If you love smartphone photography and can pick this one up in your country, I'd say—go get it!

Im using xiaomi 14 ultra, iphone 15 pro max and pixel 9 pro xl .. my personal opinion is xiaomi destroying both phones in every way, both are noisy and doesn't have that details like xiaomi.

I would have left the aperture up to your personal preference for each scene, and let the iPhone fry - main cam obviously, it did it's own frying when it came to the aux lenses/sensors.🤣

The Xiaomi looks great indeed, but when doing the jpg shots you should have tried the photographic styles feature, it is a game changer for iPhone jpgs. It overrides the hdr look and works similar to the Fuji look. ( im a Fuji shooter for 12 years now) I was debating getting the Xiaomi but went for the iPhone as i, using a iPad Pro, iMac and staying in the eco
System bring so many benefits. For sure the iPhone is far from perfect but it is the best so far for photography and the video capabilities is incredible this year with apple pro log.

I used Lr cam and edit photos there. If I bring highlights down then it was everything ok and sky goes down, not shadows (bringing highlights down)- iPhone 12. I bought 15 Pro Max and used ProRAW and sharing to Lr Mobile to edit. When I bring highlights down most of the times sky goes into slightly gray color or it’s fine but also some parts of shadow too and it’s so grayish color that I never experienced. I hope you understand what I mean. I use -0, 3 exposure and shot not in front of the light. Is this normal? I can bring highlights down and bring exposure up but it doesn’t help because photo is too bright. Taken 10000 photos by Lr cam and edit from my iPhone 12 and all was fine. I mean bringing highlights down make shadows grayish, flat.
