How To Test Your Aquarium Water - Test Strips

Want to learn how to test your aquarium water? I highly recommend using test strips over liquid test kits. Test strips are just more convenient. If its easier to do then you are more likely to test your tanks in the first place. Give them a shot, they are hard to beat in my opinion.

Monitoring your fish tank health is important and one of the main ways you can monitor this is by testing your fish tank water! Keeping aquariums doesn’t need to be complicated. My channel is focused on low tech aquariums that are incredibly easy to take care of and require little maintenance to stay healthy. Test strips helps me take care of my tanks without wasting time.

I agree that test strips are easier to use! I currently have the API master test kit, and I've been using that for a long time. Strips are a heck of a lot easier and faster though. The tetra strips tend to be more reliable in my opinion than the API strips, but I haven't tested any other kinds.

It says to test immediately for ammonia. Not let it sit. The longer you let it sit it will just go to dark green.

Great video, however, I have a question I'd like to ask. After I introduce bacteria into the aquarium do I need to add a source of ammonia for the bacteria to develop? Or can I just let it be?

What is the 40-gallon breeder rack you have? I am trying to find a good one and haven't been able to so far. I purchased the Edsal Muscle Rack 36"W x 18"D x 72"H Ultra Rack from Walmart because Home Depot didn't have it. It took three of us to get 1 40 gallon breeder on it and unfortunately I thought I could adjust the heights but three of them you can't because it holds up the other posts.
